At the moment, my issues are:

    1) My sound doesnt work in game, and if im running WMP in the background, that silences too, despite still running.

    2) The fact that fences cant be built on the same tile as a path, also, why do things not get deleted when you try to build over them? ie: try building a shop on top of a flower bed.

    3) My scenario parks are really ruined by the peeps, because they dont queue up for the damn rides.

    4) The stats are really messed up. I had an invert on Vanilla Hills, the stats were "normal". I deleted one piece of straight track and built a photo section, suddenly my excitment went down to 2.45?

These problems should be fairly easy to iron out, I dont see why Atari couldnt release another patch correcting some of the major peep/ride charactaristics.

ADD: Btw, I thought it was cool that you have to design your own sale items, makes for big profit'os. :bandit:

I find that annoying too. In RCT2 I'm sure when you build a ride over trees it just deleted them and built it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I never really played RCT2.

I still find the path system horrible too.

I have some questions about RCT3, but i didnt want to start a new topic so ill just post here..

Is there an intamin 10 looping coaster in the game? Here for pics

Whats the scenery selection like? Walls/rooves etc.. Just basic stuff that came with RCT2?

How many new elements are there for an average coaster? Like a B&M twister.. Are dive loops possible now?

If anyone could answer these questions i'd be greatful.. im still wondering whether or not i should get it..
  • Meretrix%s's Photo
Lots of walls and rooves. Strange new pieces for some coasters (figure 8 loop on a hyper?)
No official Zero G's on B&M's but regular corkscrew coasters, the Tilt Coaster, the SLC and the inverted verticle shuttle have them.

Not enough bushes and low shrubs, but not so few as to be unworkable.

    Not enough fences.

Splash Boats and River boats go WAY TOO FAST!!!....it's impossible to make a decent slow moving dark ride with those things as they go about 17mph.

Worth a look if you've got $40 laying around. Haven't touched the scenarios. Not gonna (I didn't play a single scenario in RCT2 either). It's a great application to use as a "canvas"

    Landscaping tools are stellar!!!

Creating dark rides and then riding them is a hell of a lot of fun (especially if you don't get out to real life amusement parks much because you are kept locked away in your office for inordinate amounts of time).

figure 8 loop on a hyper?

It's a concept that never saw the light of day... ;)
  • Richie%s's Photo
Thanks for that mertrix, but is there an intamin looping coaster?

Thanks for that mertrix, but is there an intamin looping coaster?

nope, there also isn't even a normal rocket coaster (so no Stormrunner and no Xcelerator possible)
  • Meretrix%s's Photo

Yeah, it was a Shwarzkopf concept (figures)....but the strange thing is that they added it to a type of ride that has NO other inversions. Not a whole lot of consistency with the types of pieces available for each coaster......I mean, the inverted mouse doesn't invert. I'm hoping that maybe someone from Frontier or Atari can clarify this omission. Maybe that piece needs to be "unlocked" or something.

As for excellerator and storm runner....just use hyper track with fast straight chain "launch" (like we had to with RCT2)...until Atari pulls their collective head from their rectum and and actually does some research as to which coaster companies produce which types of elements, and then proprely implement them.
  • Disney Freak%s's Photo
Yeah, the univerting inverted wild mouse is kinda weird... ???
  • Dixi%s's Photo
^when you enter the verticle track, look at the 'banking' ratio, you can click on the bottom one to make it invert.
  • Meretrix%s's Photo
Well I'll be damned. (For so many other reasons)

    It doesn't work.

Where exactly is this fabled section to invert the inverted wild mouse?
  • Dixi%s's Photo
    Flow chart:

    Build coaster track quite high
    V
    Build a slope to verticle
    V
click, but do not build, the flat section button
    V
Now click on the inverted icon on the banking ratio.

Example - Save it to my documents/rct3/parks.

    Oh.......I see now......

It's amazing when I actually stop and pay attention, what my little brain is capable of grasping.

when you play around with the landscaping tool, the screen gets all black, or the water is seperated by a glitch, etc. etc. Lots and lots of buggy things happen when you attempt to landscape....
  • Richie%s's Photo
I think thats probably just your graphics card ^

When i first played this i hated, the landscape tools were just 100% confusing. After playing around with it yesterday, ive found out all sorts, and i can now landscape how i want it, instead of letting it go randomly! The big problem now is not being able to keep constructing a coaster and edit the landscape at the same time. Its a pain, especially when its only to lower the landscape 1 tiny bit.

The second thing i hate, is the scenery selection menus, its so time consuming searching through all the lists, the RCT2 way with expanding windows was 10x easier to use. While some of the scenery sucks, most of it is pretty good (apart from non-aligning walls). Also to colour the walls, then build something, then.. think, "It might look better red..." then have to click on each piece, recolour them seperately, then think, "Actually it was better brown.."

I do like all the extras on coaster, like over banked turns and stuff, and it would be a better game IMO if they could just change the Scenery selection menus, recolouring easier (like RCT2 again) and maybe allow tunnels? I always had tunnels on coaster for RCT1/2, its really annoying i can no longer do it.

Well, i've only just really started to play around with the game today. And i like it! ;)

There are a few niggles, but i'm sure i'll get used to them. I just can't get over how gorgeous my park looks at night!
  • Meretrix%s's Photo

If you click on the scenery tab, then the custom structure tab, a "paintbrush" tab will appear in the next flyout menu. If you click that, a paintbrush with three paint cans will appear in the lower left corner. Change the colors of the paint cans by clicking on each one. Then drag the cursor over ANY object that can have color applied to it, and VOILA.

It is SOOOOOOOOOO much faster than painting in RCT2, because you can do scenery, rides, etc. all at once.

    Hope that helps.

This game turned out to be way better than I thought.

It came out right on time to, because my motivation for playing RCT2 was dying rapidly.

When I first got it, it was alright, It took a while to get used to it and I hated how the game would slow down to a slideshow. I was most dissapointed when I found that my graphics card couldn't support that graphic features, making the game looks like shit since the graphics settings were at "low"

But today my brother went out an bought an ATI Radeon 9600 XT from Best Buy since it was on sale. After putting this thing in.....WOW.....

With the graphics setting at extreme, water reflections on and bloom on, this game ran perfectly. The movement and the rotations were so smooth, I was amazed. The only thing I'm concerned about at the moment is if the game will slow down too much when I actually start getting into full detail into parks.

Also, the patch fixed up most of the problems I was having before, so I'm having no problems with this game at the moment. I think I'll be playing with it for a while too. I already started remaking PoD, and it's going to be amazing....

Meretrix - I never knew that. That should help out A LOT. Thanks.

Thanks for that. I think i actually found this before, but it wouldnt paint the objects, ill try again when i next play it.

nah, it isn't my graphics card..
