I don't think there's enough contrast between the paths and the buildings... I'd make either the paths on the ground or the paths on the buildings the darker brown.
Nice, though. -

I tried some grey in the beginning, but I didnt like it at all. The rusty walls will be implemented later (I just gave everything a base color of brown).Okay I'm not feeling the run down and dirtyness quite yet. A darker pathing color and/or the use of some more grey castle walls in the architecture... Maybe some rusty walls too?
I think youll like it more when the entire area is completed (After I tweak everything to my liking). The fire escapes and scaffolds and such really won't be incredible, because there is only so much u can do with RCT in that regard. Plus, the coaster in this area will make you like it more (Itll probably have an excitement of 10 ;-) )Though this screen is incomplete, I 'm not totally feeling the grittiness yet. IMO, Nate's CoD did a better job at establishing the ghetto atmosphere. I think it's the castle walls that throw me off the most... I'd suggest making buildings simply out of earthen raised land (as opposed to the traditional marble). Fire escapes look a bit odd, but that might be cuz I'm used to RCT 2.
This looks good, but obviously, I have much higher standards for you, Stefon. I look forward to the fantastic rides I'm sure you have cookin'.I don't think there's enough contrast between the paths and the buildings... Will consider this, this first screen is only a initial run at the area. -

argh, there's something about it that makes it look so messy.
hm. whatever, i'm guessing it's supposed to be that way. -

It's very confusing, and hard to tell one level from the next... Doesn't look at all like a city, at the moment. -

I like this screen better than the first one you posted. It looks more dirty.
I would like to see if it makes a difference when you get rid of the bits of station and water though.
Getting confused as to whats path and whats roof though.
I know not everyone is a fan but trying use some coaster pieces as roofing...or not. Up to you. -

Don't know if anyone got this, but the 'City in the Clouds' part of Cajamarca was Macchu Picchu the way I imagine it would have looked. Except I didn't finish it. But anyway, I just felt like saying that for some reason.
I'm wondering about the City of God area though, it's based on the movie right? Or at least the real City of God in Brazil that the movie was about. I don't remember the city being that vertical though. It's not like a tenement you'd see in a major US city, it's more like a third world shanty town with buildings hobbled together out of scraps. That's how I remember it anyway. ANyway, it's nice to see you expanding your style. You did a few buildings like this in Disney Movie Magic that I thought were really terrific (like the tower of terror and King Triton's castle) - so I expect it'll look very nice when you've finished it. -

One reason it may seem so is that the paths were broken up due to Beast hacks. I need to clear those up, and maybe after tha itll be a bit easier to tell the different levels apart. I beg to differ, I think it looks like a city imo, but to each their own. It's very confusing, and hard to tell one level from the next... Doesn't look at all like a city, at the moment.

Well im glad you did your version of Machu Picchu, because what I have planned is a bit different
As for the buildings, I remember the city having some tall structures. Ill see if I can find pictures.I like this screen better than the first one you posted. It looks more dirty.

I might use coaster roofing sparingly... (Well I do have one bit of coaster roofing near the run-down park area in the City of God). -

Okay, I'm not "feeling" it. It's got the messy feeling down perfectly now however it seems to sloppy. Not messly like part of the theme but sloppy like badly unfinished. The coaster stations that are being used as buildings need to have their ends closed because that just looks bad... The rapids bits too... They can't be left hanging open.
Now if I just assume that stuff will be taken care of then I love what you've done here. It's excellent.

it's weird. but somehow, i like it. if only for the fact that you're playing again, and that you discover a new style of yours which i'm sure, when mastered, will be true quality. -

If you finnished up the siding and got rid of the water that screen would look so much better! And the comment about the paths is true. I would suggest using crazy path either on the ground or on the roofs.
About the movie, I think I see where the descretion is. CoasterEd, what you think is the actual "City Of God" is during the beggining, in "The Sixties" when it is a shanty town with dirt roads and cookie-cutter housing. What's not explained in the film, is if Rocket gets out of the "City Of God." We are lead to believe he does because his brother, Goose tries to get out; and when he is in his teen-age years, the city looks very different (taller buildings, more colourful, more people etc..). I think the city in the second half of the film is the same city as the first part of the film although it has grown and changed. Like I said, it's not well explained. -

The screen next week will show the completed buildings in the best part of the area. Sorry, my ability to complete screens is limited.About the movie, I think I see where the descretion is. This is what I based this area off, exactly what Nate said. -

I understand what you're trying to do, but I can't help but not like it. Not saying that's it's not good, it's actually exceptional "archy" wise... I'm just not a fan of bare, barren lands with no green. You ahve to have SOME green... you WILL won't ya? Like, people who live in citites DO have plants and stuff... or I could be rambling... -
Turtle Offline
Nope, no green.
Have you seen the film? That would explain it.
I think the only reason I don't like it is that it's unfinished, and looks so. I'm sure when it all comes together it'll be great, and I can't wait to see what it will look like. It's just so hard to get a feel for something when there's so many things attracting my eye away from the theme itself (open stations etc.). When these are cleared up, I'll change my mind, i'm sure. -

Well, the closest thing to green youll get is the run-down park in the center of the section. It has four or five shrubs and burnt trees. -

Update 4 - Nice Weekend Update
- Galapagos (20%): Themed to the beautiful island chain west of the South American continent, this area will offer a lovely tropical getaway for those needing a vacation. Here you can enjoy the exotic animals and unique rides, including these:
Savage Current
Can you brave the vicious currents produced by the Bartolome' volcano? Seismic jolts and movements have twisted and contorted the once beautiful river traveling through this Galapagos island paradise, but time has turned this nice creek into a ragint torrent. WIll you survive the deadly river and tumultuous volcano? Step aboard and find out.
- The ride is a new age river rapids ride, much like those seen in SWA, Disney's Movie Magic, and various Natelox works. It will be a high speed river raft adventure with many near misses with exotic creatures, hot lava, and razor sharp rocks and cooled lava beds. It will likely be the only water ride in the park (Room is running thin for large attractions, the B&M Invert is way too large for its own good [takes up like 1/5 of themap]).
Shell Shocked!
Take a ride on a mini-cups adventure through a lovely Galapagos island.
- Its basically a lightly launched rollercoaster with Virginia Reel Tubs on Wild Mouse tracks. No drops, only sharp and gradual turns.
Iguanadon
Normal scrambler ride, just with some nice little tropical touches. It sits in a base made out of wooden stilts (new way to use an old idea), has a new kind of queue (Dont know if this has been done before) utilizing coaster stations. It sits nestled against a volcanic formation and is surrounded by plants.
20,000 Leauges Under Galapagos
Submarine ride that takes you through an underwater ecosystem. Its relatively small, so dont expect anything grand.
There you have it, the Galapagos. It is interesting to see this area next to the City of God, such different (EXACT opposites) areas that actually blend together quite well. This area is a island paradise, so the architecture is VERY limited. Think on the lines of Scheussler's Jurassic Park in IOAH, but with slightly more archy and far more foilage. The landscaping is key in this area, and so far I am using two types of rocky formations (dark gray and red). Both give the area a vibrance that is needed to correctly convey the Galapagos. Only a little is done, and I havn't even started the rapids ride yet (which I will try and make stunning). Ill show screens in about a week or so maybe, once I get more done.
Enjoy my text. -

You have done something different. Cool architecture style, I haven't seen it be used like that before. Awesome.
