Yeah, so I live near it.
Will be quite exciting if it blows.
I find it interesting that they are having large quakes in California and volcanic action up here.
Here are two related news articles.

Here.
We.
Go.
Again.
I heard that Mauna Loa is overdue. She's gonna blow REAL soon, but MTSH would not blow in a couple months. -

Yeah... St Helens is just trying to put the Huskies out of their football misery.
If you like devastating volcanoes, here are some interesting reads about the supervolcano under Yellowstone. This is all real, but about as likely as a comet strike. One of those doomsday scenarios that's about as likely to happen during our lifetime as anything else freaky.

Bill Bryson thinks that Yellowstone Volcano is going to blow and that we in the UK will be buried under 1m of ash. Yup. -

I hope Yellowstone doesn't blow up. PETA would have a fit, and nobody wants a pissed off animal rights activist... -

PETA is always pissed. If they are roused to action by the volcano, in that case, blow up! They can go up there and try to save the animals, then choke on all the soot and dust that infiltrates their ridiculously radical and filthy lungs.I hope Yellowstone doesn't blow up. PETA would have a fit, and nobody wants a pissed off animal rights activist...
PETA is a joke. I'd laugh my ass off if they decided to form a giant human chain around the supervolcano and sing Kumbaya in hopes of placating it, only to be mass-extinguished when the magma erupted. -

I think PETA has some usefull traits.
What about saving then aminals from bad testing.

I don't oppose WHAT Peta stands for. I oppose HOW they carry out their cause. For example, to protest KFC's "bad treatment of chickens," they've passed out buckets of bloody pieces of fake chicken... to CHILDREN.
At a Broadway show, to protest actors wearing fur, they gave out flyers to KIDS that showed a picture of a woman wearing a graphically mutilated cute little fox, with the message: Your Mother is a Murderer.
That's just crass. -

If they weren't doing things like that they wouldn't get the same amount of attention from the medias... But those things risk to overshadow their message, so I imagine it to be hard to find a good balance.I don't oppose WHAT Peta stands for. I oppose HOW they carry out their cause. Yeah, exactly. You're very right about that. I've said the same about peta.I don't oppose WHAT Peta stands for. I oppose HOW they carry out their cause. For example, to protest KFC's "bad treatment of chickens," they've passed out buckets of bloody pieces of fake chicken... to CHILDREN.

Sweet.
I wish I could see a volcano erupt.
I wish I could see a mountain that's actually 50 miles away. -
JBruckner Offline
It's easy to see on a clear day, which today was.
Check the weather if you wish.

The pictures of it erupting look awsome. From what I heard the rocks coming out of it where the size of cars. I also heard that after a break in the earthquakes they began again which could mean that she is not done yet.
So we could be in for an even more impressive site or this could be it. Either way this still awsome to see. I wish I could have seen it in person. Your lucky Asperix, very lucky. -

It looked like a big grey cloud.
I wish I was alive in 1980, would of been awsome. -

Just watch the old video of the 1980 eruption, because that was insane, but you wouldn't have wanted to be there.
It's still gonna blow more, and while the next eruption may be wussy, it could be more major than initially expected. -

For those who are following the Mt. St. Helens events, it erupted again this morning around 2 AM, I believe. It was only a small gas eruption not unlike yesterday's and the day before's. The scientists believe that the eruption will be larger than expected but not as large as the 1980 eruption.
Hey Asperix, around what proximity of the mountain do you live? Are you in the Vancouver, WA/Portland, OR area? I live in the south sound area near Gig Harbor and Tacoma, so if it does erupt bigtime today or tomorrow, I'm in the predicted ash fallout area. It would be pretty cool, but I have a feeling that I'd rather not have to go around wiping ash off of everything (the little we MIGHT get). I won't be able to actually see the mountain erupt from where I am, but if and when Mt. Rainier erupts (and it's a clear day), I'd have a good view of that.
Anyways, the news here has been pretty much non-stop MT. St. Helens updates...which means a lot of the same stuff throughout the day that gets a bit annoying...annoying but interesting.
