One thing that just struck me, after looking at these screens and BGSS (for some reason, I felt like it), is how most screens people here have shown have the kind of architecture and theming that would look good in RCT1 and 2, but only looks decent in RCT3... These latest screens, however, aren't like that, the building here would probably look too blocky in 1 and 2, but it's one of the best i've seen in RCT3.
When RCT2 was new, most people tried to make it look as much as LL as possible, and because of that RCT2 felt more limiting, but when the theming got more experimental and custom scenery appeared, it really started stretching the limits. Hopefully something similar will happen in RCT3, it will develop it's own unique style of parkmaking.

I guess that's pretty obvious, but I'll post it anyway.

I still have a lot of gripes about the game, that doesn't mean I can't sample what it does offer. In the end, I think a lot of people are just overlooking the problems because it's in 3d. I will hold out hope that things will be corrected over time, but I don't see myself switching over immediately.

That's one hell of a woodie, SA.

YAY Toon!...finally someone shows a decent invert. If people churn out rides of this caliber with just the demo, the full game will blow me away! Heck, I have yet to churn out anything decent in either RCT or RCT 2... :D
  • Coaster Ed%s's Photo
I decided to remake a coaster I made for RCT2 and it turned out pretty good. Here's a few pics. It's really a shame we can't save anything. I'm working on putting together a video for it (yes it's still running - over 12 hours now).

That's yummy. How did you create those "mesas"? They don't look like standard building blocks. They are kinda "wedged" into the landscape. How is this accomplished?
  • Coaster Ed%s's Photo
That's my favorite new "feature" with RCT3. When you build objects into the landscape they blend in. So they are just standard building blocks but the edges are uneven where they are half buried. Pretty cool huh? I was experimenting using 1/4 tile blocks as landscaping to make spires in RCT2 so I just took that idea and applied it to RCT3. It took me awhile to get used to building landscapes (and I still can't figure out the path tool - it's really finnicky about terrain) but I've found a lot to like about the game. More bushes and trees would really be great. And I really wish it would let me tunnel coasters through the terrain like you could in the other games. I guess this way is more realistic though. Damn I wish I could save this. :)
