I’m building “the efteling” in rct2. The Efteling is a park in Holland that is based on fairytales.
I’m building this park with a few other people. Now we have finished the “anderrijk” (otherkingdom).
    Her are some screens.
You can visit the site from the efteling on www.efteling.nl

    Here the enter.

The architecture is plain, and the colours are pretty unvaried and dull. I think maybe look at some Spotlight parks to see what they do to spice things up a bit. Also, you've overadvertised. At the most, advertise 2/3 screens, but I think that many really is pushing it a bit...
  • sacoasterfreak%s's Photo
Don't jump on the noobs, panoramical, that's seriously messed up. These guys aren't intending to "advertise" their park, they are intending to show off screens of a re-creation they are doing. It's not like they are going to send it in for spotlight or put it up for a runner-up or something, it's actually a contribution to the RCT/RCT 2 community because they are re-creating real parks which is how this style of making parks started in the first place. Jumping on them is not only going to discourage them from posting any more screens, but will also discourage them because their first experience on New Element was you telling them that they are over-advertised. Think about it, man, that's really rude of you to welcome members like that. It's a recreation, let it fly, it's not like you couldn't find a map of the park on the internet, anyways!

Still I think that many screens is over-advertising. But yes, I do agree with you.

Hey, i think tbh you're over-reacting a bit there. What i said wasn't to appear cool by flaming a n00b, in fact it's very rare that I do that. I was just giving an honest opinion. I love it when new unannounced parkmakers come here that nobody's seen. There are so many examlpes, and I honestly tell people what exactly I think.

As for the overadvertising, I still maintain it's a fair point. I mean we already know half this map anyway. Fine, it's a recreation. I suppose it's fair enough for this park, but i didnt know that...I was just saying it's a good idea not to overhype your parks, that's all. But I'll take your commetn that the reasoning behind posting was different from veteran members attending the community.

Ok, I'll accept that that post was a little harsh, and I think it may have been slightly out of line, but still, I hardly flamed him. I'd say that stuff to anyone, I don't care if they're a n00b or not, I just want to let them know my honest opinion of their park. I also didn't realise it was a recreation, which may have played a part into the fact that it was so critical. If I would have known that, I may have judged it on a different basis. Either way, ~peace~.

i think it looks very promising and since recreations have died out, i compliment you on doing one.

As snas said, keep in mind it's a rec and believe me, it's pretty accurate. I already made a version (50%) of it, but I was forced to stop because I needed custom objects. Good work!

Well I can only suggest reading the post in future.

I think this will have a lot more value to people who actually know the park, and since i'm not one of them I don't find it very impressive, but that's not to say it isn't a good exercise in parkmaking.

mantis i been in the park and i can say you that this park doesn´t feel like the real thing. sorry for saying it boys... i saw the project on RCTH (www.rctholland.nl (A very big dutch rctfan site that is down now)) and it never feeled like the real thing. the park is (like you can see on the real screens) a park with a great twist of fantasy.

but Snas just make it done.. it´s bter to have a park that doesn´t feel like the real thing than a park that´s not ready!

    Nederlanders :)

maar ehh.. *ff in 't engels.

It's looking good to me. It's got the biggest shapes of the buildings nicely on, and it's looking quite realistic in a way. Now the hard part is still to be done. Go by everything and add the details. Little paths, gardens, everything, especially something like the fata morgana flying carpet. "papier hier" (think of something to represent that) and i'm gonna add a big ETC here..

A very good recreation in my opinion.
I've found another park a few months ago, but it was build with WW, so i can't look at it.
I hope your park isn't build with WW?

    BTW
I really want to visit this park because it has really beautiful landscape and some very nice rides. Efteling is the best park in the Netherlands...(Here in Germany we also call it Holland, thats sounds nicer :D )

sure, the best park, it's right behind SixFlagsHolland...

but the roof of the fata morgana is ugly, no, its not ugly its Fugly with a big F.
seriously people, flat roofs are black or dark grey (unless there's gravel on top of the roof...)

the rest looks good, i hope you do a better job at pandadroom than the original...

Good luck on this, it seems there are more dutchies hidden in the rct2-community then I thought (I'm also dutch)... Maybe we could work together on a park sometime with all of us dutchies, good or bad in RCT2 :D

Anyways, I really like this park and it looks realistic, good luck with this and keep it up

thank you for the reaction’s :)

I think that if you don’t no the real park, you don’t get the right feeling about this.
And of course we have problems with the object limit and that we can’t build diagonal and so we can’t make everything perfect.
Pbj: the feeling is in the game better and I think that it comes by the anton pieck plein (a square).
What we do with the roof from fata morgana I don’t know. We look what we can change. ;)
We are building a site for this park and if that is finish come an update. You can see a screenshot from us re-construction and a picture from the real building. :!!:

It's very realistic so as a rec i'd say you're doing just fine. My problem with even attempting a rec is that I would need hunderds or even thousands of photo references b/c I'd want to get as much information as possable about every little detail of the park. I've been thinking about doing a Cedar Point rec after IO but that may be a bit too much for me.

Nice job on what's there. Just pay careful attention to all the little details that real buildings have so that you can make your own more accurate and interesting.

    Look'n good.

I absolutely love the way you're advertising here; very original and it fits the 'Efteling style' very well..
As the Efteling is my favourite themepark, I love to see it recreated in rct2.. You're version doesn't really remind me of the atmosphere I everytime experience while venturing through the park... Why not use Toon's 1/8 or 1/16 (do they exist?) tile blocks to create 'Langnek' and 'Draak Lichtgeraakt', or create some custom objects of them? I think that'll look much better...
Also try to prevent overtreeing... Try to just use the landscape tool to create a nice landscape with here and there some bushes/trees... I know the Efteling looks quite foresty in real life at places, but in game you don't need that much trees to create an foresty atmosphere...

Overall, I'm still lookin forward to see this park completed, as this is defenitely the most toughest project to be build in RCT...

    Good luck,

    SF
