Complicated games take playtesting to iron out. This is as true of boardgames, video games, and even webboard RCT games like this one. It would have been convenient if all the rules were clear and set in stone ahead of time, agreed, but anyone who has designed a complicated game from the ground up should know that rules can never be finalized until they've been put to the test. I don't think there's any reason to accuse iris or Nitrous of improper leadership, such conflict was bound to come up eventually. As long as the rules are clarified promptly, I don't see any problem. I've had my own opinions about how such a competition could be or should be run from the beginning but I recognize that this is not my competition so I will trust that those in control (uh, iris I guess) will find a reasonable solution or already have.
