Why the hell does Oakland have all these crazy arms anyway? It's not like they need another one... since they already have the best starting five in the AL (unless this guy's a reliever). I mean... damn.. Moulder, Hudson, Zito, Redman, Harden? That's insane. Only the Cubs have a better up-and-down staff IMO. -

They definately need a reliever because Dotel is not playing to his potential and their bullpen isn't the greatest. If he is starting...Zito is not having that great of a year. I doubt they would send him down though. -

He is a reliever. With a 98 mph moving fastball. Pitched 2 scoreless innings today. We've been hearing about this guy in Oakland all year (KC wanted to get him in the Beltran deal) and he got promoted a lot sooner than expected because of that 18 inning game on Sunday and Chad Bradford's subsequent trip to the DL. Apparently Garcia has gone 3-0 with a 0.67 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 53 innings of minor league play this season. If Garcia sticks around and plays well, that would make the three rookie relievers (Justin Duchscherer and Justin Lehr being the other two) our bullpen's most consistent pitchers. Oh yeah, and we just got Huddy back from the DL too. Time for another one of those .700 plus post all-star break records. -

WOOT GO TRIBE thats my team! I dunno if we still have a chance at the playoffs but we sure as hell deserve it. We are like 1 year ahead of when we were supposed to be good w00t!

Yeah... we do have an MLB topic. This has been merged into the official MLB topic. -

The Braves had a rough start this year, but they have made a huge turn around. In the post-season, I'm hoping for the best, but as a long time Braves fan, I'm preparing for the worst. -

Watch it Corky, that's my team, that well, beat one of your 2 teams...
I love this...Front page on ESPN.com
Hey Mick, how you like your pitching/lead now? Starters are 1-7 with 6+ ERA in last 17 starts, and we're only 3.5 back baby! -

Well, my goal is still to have the Dodgers and Angels both make the playoffs. If the Red Sox can knock off the Yanks and keep them from the playoffs even, that's an added bonus, but not at the expense of my Angels. -

Sorry Corky, but the Dodgers aren't having anything. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make the playoffs at all. I'm completely unbiased on this, by the way. -

Yes. I see them going to the World Series. Then they will play the Red Sox. Then they will lose. The curse will be over. I wish...but maybe it could happen!Cardinals own.
Man, I can't believe they're doing so well this year.
Anyways, can some explain the trade deadline to me. I really do not get it. They have one, but then teams still trade players. Sorry, I do not know that much about the sport. Thanks. -

I think it is very wrong that SoCal people are allowed to have two teams. That's not how it works!Well, my goal is still to have the Dodgers and Angels both make the playoffs. If the Red Sox can knock off the Yanks and keep them from the playoffs even, that's an added bonus, but not at the expense of my Angels.
PS- 22-0!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!! Nice of the Yanks to trade a guy who was no good against the Red Sox for a guy who's no good against ANYONE! Classic. -

After the trade deadline, which is really the unrestricted trade deadline, all players traded must clear waivers. This means that if you want to trade a high caliber player after the deadline--say Albert Pujols--you'd have to wait for him to clear waivers... meaning no other team above you wants to claim him... before the trade is processed.Anyways, can some explain the trade deadline to me. I really do not get it. They have one, but then teams still trade players. Sorry, I do not know that much about the sport. Thanks.
That's why it's technically possible to have trades after the deadline, but you rarely see major players traded, because there's that risk that someone else will claim him. -

Ah, I see. I always wondered why they could still trade. Thanks a lot.
Yes, seeing the Yankees lose by that much was nice to see.
