Well the Astros lost to the Diamondbacks who were on a fourteen game losing streak. Damn.
Anyone see the fight between A-Rod and Jason Varitek during Saturday's game? Good shit. You got to love the rivalry. -

Hell yeah. Varitek sat out with a sore wrist from punching him. Lol.
Looks like Giambi might be out for the season with these parasite things. It may even be fatal if left untreated. Not good for Yankee fans. -

Cardinals are owning... Everybody is on fire. Last night, Pujols, Rolen, and Edmonds all hit homers... That's pretty crazy. Best record in both leagues, not sure when that's happened last. -

Dude, they're tops of the leage... But I guess you do have a point there. They just dropped 2 of 3 to the Giants. That's owning?

Hmmm...and then 'tek gets 3 RBIs the day after sitting out! See, no long term reprecussions, and we won the last game in the (Yankee) series without him...Hell yeah. Varitek sat out with a sore wrist from punching him. Lol.

Who knows what's up with Giambi, though personally I think he was on the 'juice' at one point.

As a Yankee fan...I dont think A-Rod should be the one picking fights. Hes not the biggest guy out there....but Gary Sheffield on the other hand...he could kick some major a$$. So could Giambi, once his virus goes away. I hope hes okay and its not life threatening like the media says it could be. Then again, a cold could be fatal if left untreated. -

Nomar is going to the Cubs. Four teams were involved. I think the Red Sox got the best deal getting Orlando Cabrera and Doug Mientkiewicz (sp?). A lot of other deals have been made also including Steve Finley to the Dodgers and Esteban Loiaza to the Yankees. -

No-mo' No-mah.
Tough move to think about, as the Red Sox brought his scorn on themselves with the failed trade talks of last winter, and his injury/brief playing time has only hurt relations. I thought he liked his teammates though, but you'd think he'd have fought harder with them on the field this year regardless. The trade does bring in defensive help, and if that turns Lowe around (who has been screwed over by lousy defense), then all the better.
We'll never know if No-mah would have resigned with us in the offseason, but that risk is now gone, as is he who was our reliable SS/bat for the longest time.
Bittersweet as I still like the guy, but I want my team to win too.

He was closer to going to the Dodgers than to Houston, but at the last minute, Arizona said "wah wah we want a Big Unit."Didn't Randy Johnson get traded to the Astros?
Oh, please tell me its true!
Got three great prospects though. (at the Dodgers) -

^Indeed.Got three great prospects though. (at the Dodgers)
I think the Dodgers F-ed themselves by swapping Encarnacion, Lo Duca and Mota for Brad Penny and Steve Finley (and yea, I know there are like 10 or so total peeps that moved around-not listing all)...
The Marlins (who have somehow won 2 WS in 12 yrs) made out like banshees. If an award went to the team that won at the trading deadline, mail it to S. Florida.

Too bad they haven't won a game since....The Marlins (who have somehow won 2 WS in 12 yrs) made out like banshees. If an award went to the team that won at the trading deadline, mail it to S. Florida.
EDIT: They won last night....figures.... -

Just putting in my two cents on the Nomar trade...I was in Tampa for the past week and I went to one of the D-Rays v. Sox games, and I was sitting amongst a bunch of Devil Rays fans. The only Rays fans in the whole place under age 60, actually. Anyway, they asked how it made any sense at all for the Red Sox to trade one of the top shortstops of all time for Orlando Cabrera and Doug Mientkiewicz. To these people I say: Nomar has fallen off. Ever since 2001 when the whole wrist injury occurred his defense has slipped tremendously. He doesn't make those range-across-the-diamond-throw-on-the-run plays anymore. Those are a thing of the past. Combine this with the issues he had with management (understandable, when it's put in the open that the front office is trying to get rid of you in favor of a better shortstop) and missing most of this season, and it was time to move on. Besides, on this Red Sox team that's so full of fun characters, Nomar did nothing. You have all the goofy Dominican guys like Manny and Ortiz and Pedro, and all the other loonies with guys like our designated cheerleader Kevin Millar (cheerleader will work, not like he's done anything else for us in a year) and Nomar was an outcast. He was completely an unsociable guy. No wonder no other Red Sox came to his defense in the aftermath of this trade. It's really sad that a guy who was the most popular athlete in Boston has had such a falling-out with just about everyone...even the fans. But it's time to move on. The Nomar of Today is not the Nomar of 5 Years Ago when he was a baseball prodigy or whatever. Good luck elsewhere, Nomar. Bring on the Orlando/Pokey era. -

Yes they are. They do not need another .300 plus hitter in that lineup.
But more importantly, Jairo Garcia is coming. Just wait and see. -

Who?
(honestly... I've never heard of him, so I'm just gonna assume he's another Oakland prodigy... prolly a pitcher, but maybe not)
