yeah, besides the sox the astros are definatly my favorite team, and theyre doing pretty good right now tooGo Astros.
anyway, tonight: hudson vs mussina
as much as id like to see the yankees lose, i think its about time that arod comes out of that slump. the yanks had their share of losses for now, i think theyre gonna win tonight, but not by a lot.
In two days though, when zito is pitching for oakland, hes gonna redeem himself, on the 29th the a's are gonna pick up a win -

Kai that's why I love you....
We should make it a point every year to get together and go see a game. Yankees v. RedSox. One year we go to Yankee Stadium and the next to Fenway.
I also like how you used the word currently...because even you know the Red Sox will end up falling apart and finishing second yet again.
As for spending money all of you Red Sox fans shouldn't talk because it not like they aren't spending theirs.
Yanks start their turn around tonight vs. the Oakland A's... -

Well, as a diehard Rangers fan, I'm going out on a limb and saying we'll take the West this year. Theirs no doubt that they have the best team they have ever had, the only flaw is how young they are, which is actually a good flaw. This just means they'll only get better as the season progresses, and in the next few years.
Honestly, the Rangers new style and motto of "Everyone Hits" instead of relying on one big man (Arod, Gonzo, Palmerio), has really paid off. I dont' think anyteam in baseball has as consistently good lineup as us. Their's others that will have players that put up bigger numbers, but not consistently, and not throughout the order.
Young
Blalock
Soriano
Fullmer
*Texiara
Mench
Nix
*Jordan
Laird
That's our starting lineup. * - means the player is curently on the DL, and we haven't even lost a beat without them, which means our bench is top-notch as well. While our team doesn't have many well known names, they are all very talented.
Young has already proven to be a .300+ hitter (currently .390), prolly end up as our teams BA leader, i'm guessing around .320-.330.
Blalock, most of ya'll know prolly, the AL All-Star game hero last year with his homer off Gagne. This full is hard-core baseball. Hank Blalock. That name just sounds baseball.
Soriano, all-star, not much else to say lol.
Fullmer, while not Palmerio, fullmer still adds the power in the cleanup spot to get the job done, though i suspect he'll get replaced in coming years, maybe by Nix.
Texiara, haven't seen him in his best yet, but once he gets back in lineup you will. Finished high in ROY voting last year, despite having a poor season.
Mench, our bigman, really has lots of power, but surprising everyone for hitting for a good average as well this year. Expecting a great year from him if he stays healthy.
Nix, phenomanl start. Already leads the team in homers, best centerfielder we've had in team history. This fool is the future.
Jordan, the missing link to even out our power. Hasn't played in regular season yet, and he's supposed to be our 'homer' guy. Watch out when he returns.
Laird, while never to replace Pudge, he's 10X better than Einar Diaz.
So our only loss is (as usual) our pitching staff. But then again, thats been above average this year.
Kenny Rogers -- Solid as he's been in 3 or 4 years. Could be strong year, could be on downfall after it though.
Chan Ho Park -- Record shows no improvment, skill does. Has rare increase in velocity after injury, and is hitting spots. Watch for a turn around in his record soon.
Colby Lewis -- Currently on Dl, but he's the future ace of this club.
RA Dickey -- Another guy with a fantastic start this season. If he keeps this up, he could be a great one-two punch with Lewis in the up coming seasons.
Joquin Beniot -- Random good and bad days, if he can figure out how to stay on the good ones, he'd fit in perfect.
As for the bullpen, surprisingly good stuff. I think we've only given up one run all season in the 7th inning. Cordero as closer has been perfect. Just wait until we get Zimmerman back.
Ok. Now that you guys know way more about the Rangers than you ever wanted, let me add this comforting piece of info for ya'll to ponder.
Buck Showalter, mananged the Yankees in the early 1990's i believe (in which the Yankees were NOT a first place team). After reforming the team, he was fired. The team went on to win XX amount of WS rings in so many years. After that job, Showalter took on the expansion Diamondbacks, formed them in his vision, he was let go, they went on to win a WS.
Now he has the Rangers, and has reformed them.
World Series in the near future is only inevitable.

actually i agree with you, the rangers are looking very promising this year. i think they have a shot at the penant. soriano will probably be hitting in the upper .200's and young looks like hes in good shape too. i also expect to see cordero coming through for their bullpen.
by the way, as im typing this they are leading 2-1 against the royals -

Dammit, Oakland's bullpen has been blowing games left and right. Hudson comes out, the Yanks get 6 runs in the 8th. Ack. -

Cubs are taking it this year. Wood. Maddux. Prior. Clement. Zambrano... 'Nuff said. -

the cubs have an amazing bullpen, but i dont know how theyre big hitters are gonna do. as much as id love to see the cubs and red sox win the world series this year, it would kind of take away from the hardcore fanness of it all, because they are like the cursed teams, they come close but always lose, and thats what keeps people so excited. dont get me wrong though, id be wicked happy to see either team win, especially the sox, but it would make our next world series seem less significant.
as for yanks vs a's tonight, i have a feeling that the a's might win, because contreras hasnt really been impressive this season, his era is 10.64 as of right now, i think he'll be off the mound by the 4th inning, but only after he has given the a's a substantial lead -

Maybe I'm not reading this correctly, but if one of the two teams (Red Sox/Cubs) wins the series, how is the next WS not as significant? First off, one still wouldn't have won. Secondly, defending the title is always fun, but if you're a big Sox/Cubs fan and you had just won, you'll be too giddy to care how significant the WS is if you're not in it.
I know when we finally win one, I'm taking the next day of work off  and when the next postseason comes around, just think...well...maybe I can enjoy a run through the playoffs this year, stress free. -

what i was saying is, red sox winning the world series or cubs winning the world series would be a big deal, niether team has won for so long that seeing them win would make people go crazy
here, i though of an analogy to help you understand what im trying to say.
its like sex, watching the sox play in the world series would be like having sex with the most beautiful women alive, and seeing them win would be the climax. so after sex you feel great, and youre happy, but if you have sex with her again right away it wont be as good.
anyway, sox just won the first of two games today at fenway, so i think im gonna go celebrate -
