realistic coasters are much more popular than fantasy ones. for good reasons. even fantasy parkmakers make coasters from which you get the idea that they are meant to be realistic, just because they don't know better.
the more coaster rules you know the more realistic (better) ones you can make.

I understand that, but if it's something as little as a double corkscrew, it's not a big deal.
I mean, think about it. If last year someone made a floorless that dropped out of the station directly into an inversion even before the lifthill, people would call unrealism. (Unrealism?) But the new floorless going in at Dorney Park for next year, is slated to have a "rollover" inversion right out of the station, even before the lift. Now, I don't know what a rollover is, but I do know that it's an inversion. Even B&M, known for their formulaic (and boring -ed.'s opinion) coasters, bring in new ideas now and then. So if it's just a little variation on an old theme like this, I wouldn't get too worried about it.

The thing with that arguement is that almost all times, parks that are made in rct that are intended to be realistic are said to be (in "real" life) made before the actual time it was made in rct. An example sort of would be when people put years after coasters they build, they usually are years in the present or past, not usually future. Realism/accuracy can only be defined is what is or has existed, because we don't know what will exist in the future. To say something like B&M hasn't built a double flatspin/wingover is a ture statement, because they haven't. To say that they will never can never be verified, and so to have a realistic coaster "built" in a time later in this is impossible. In keeping accuracy with a theme, we don't put say cars and airplanes in an ancient Egypt theme or line the paths with as many buildings as possible in a prehistoric theme. I don't see any reason why not to maintain that philosophy with coasters if you are going for accuracy, which I guess I now define as anything that could be built up to now and no further. You wouldn't build an inverted coaster and say it was built in 1970, or a giga coaster in 1990. If say hipothetically B&M never built an immelman until 2000, you shouldn't build a coaster with one and say that it was built in 99. If Hydra does indeed have an inversion before the lift, then it would then and only then would it be able to be verified.

Of course, realism is not necessarily better than not going for accuracy, but in a park I much more prefer something realistic.

3 things to say.

1) I don't really like complete screens, so long as enough is shown that my imagination can fill in the rest. The joy of how it all comes together can be saved for the final release

2) Realistic coasters are all fine and good, but I prefer to design coasters that are not necessarily something that does exist, but something that could exist and would be a fun ride. Too many rules ruins the fun of designing a coaster

3) Sorry this topic can't seem to stay on track SA! The screens look solid, tho not truly brilliant yet. I'm sure they will get there tho and feel free to keep showing me pics as the park progresses. You figure out your little layout problem yet?

How did the realistic coaster issue even come up? can someone englighten me??

Hello.

Well...

I know for a fact this park will feature atleast 1 original non-existing coaster in it, so don't worry about the fantasy aspect, because it's going to be "well represented".

I like the screens, but we already discussed the pros and cons about the Venice theme (Chris).
You will find a way to make everyone's bitching look good in your own way...

Hey, did you know that Venice smells like the inside of dead pig's ass 24/7/365?
It really does...

It came up because you have (or had) an MCBR on your Intanim mega, which Phatage noticed.

Anyways... About the venice screen. There's a sort of aspect missing to it, hard to put in words. It doesn't look "proper" enough, but it get's across the enchanting and some what dirtied aspect of Venice. The buildings there are taller than that, 3 stories and higher, and though this might seem boring, hardly any like balconies over the building (you catching what I'm saying... they're mostly over paths or water, to conserve space)... Also, I think you're aware of it, but in venice and big cities like london, etc. buildings are usually shops or buisnesses for the 1st or second stories, the rest of the stories are homes and such, so kind of keep that in mind.

Also if you look at the pictures, most of the house/shop buildings are the same general shape with the same general trimmings, just nuances on color and window/door placement. It's more conspicuous in the real pictures because of the larger buildings. Also, you might have too much contrast with the colors, but that's probably more observable because of all the plants and junk on the rooves. You're over doing that too much.

I like the way you're going with this, but you need just a little more direction.

As a certified tester, I'd say it's time for a new screen.
