The US Mens Basketball team lost to Lithuania 90 to 94. Not much of a surprise.

This probably sounds bad, but I was rooting for Lithuania. Firstly because the way the US has been playing, I can't imagine anyone rooting for them. I'm not talking about the losing I'm talking about a team that looks like they don't know how to play team offense or team defense. It's pathetic. And secondly because I have more reason to feel loyal to Sacramento Kings power forward Darius Songailia than anyone on the US team. And free throws. Their free throw percentage is pathetic. There's a good chance now they won't even qualify for a medal.

US also got their ass whooped by Puerto Rico before Lithuania.

Usully US gets medal after medal, but this year we've been getting them by a thread..
BTW, I don't think Greece got any medals yet..and the events are in Athens. How's that for ironic?

Really! I had no idea! Wow!

Yes, Puerto Rico was a much worse loss. It is mostly because we cannot shoot worth shit. Oh well.

Or it's because Larry Brown and the olympic committee decided that since they couldn't put together the perennial dream team that is usually sent, they would send the next biggest names, even if they were inexperienced (i.e. LeBron, Melo, Wade, and even Okafor). These guys aren't a team yet. They're getting better at playing like one but they need time that they don't have, and I can't see the US pulling out the gold in the end, sorry. What they should have done was send guys that actually made up a team. Duncan probably wasn't a bad idea, but other than that, I doubt I would have sent any of these doodies. Didn't these fools watch Miracle?!??

If we cannot get the NBA to participate (by that I mean players like Garnett, Shaq, etc.) then I say go back to college players. Most would accept the offer to play and be proud doing it.

...with the problem being that our college class is nowhere NEAR the international game anymore. Emeka Okafor isn't getting much playing time because when he does, he's getting torn up by the international players. They have their few NBA stars along with no-namers to us that are really big names in their respective countries. We just need to find a way to set up a national team a little more than 10 days before go time...

Is it just me, or do all the women gymnasts (besides Svetlana) look about 8 years old?

Either way, all of the gymnastics is amazing. I probably couldn't do one flip on those bars.

Fuck the Iraqi soccer team. Most of the players said if they weren't playing, they would be fighting for with the insurgency. Ungrateful bastards, we killed the guys that used to beat them if they lost a game.

    Our basketball team sucks.

United Arab Emirates got gold in shooting, I found that mildly amusing.

Swimming. US is doing pretty good.

    Synchronized diving is crazy.

We're doing good in beach volleyball. And I've played better after watching them.

    Trampolining is fun to watch.

I have Tivo so I can replay everything in slowmotion, and whatnot. It's fucking sweet.

Posix, when you were all this and that about Svetlana being a stud and all I didn't go out and call her an "emu" or "duck" because I thought that would be a tad rude and even borderline disrespectful; after all, she is a legend. I couldn't help but think you were really pushing it, though. However, when she came out for the unevens she really did look lovely, and much more graceful than in the team and all around. Even when she fouled up she held herself up. Truly a specimen. It's crazy how she can do what she does even with her body form--she's so much taller and slimmer than everyone! Still, I don't know if I'd rather meet her or Carly ;)X
