General Chat / Bill Blass Fall/Winter '04

I was watching StyleTrance on Style Channel, and it said that both Bill Blass (label's namesake) and Michael Vollbracht (current designer) went to the Parsons School of Design, like out very own Meterix.

I felt this collection was almost...Too retro, too much of a tribute to Bill Blass. Some of the pieces are absolutely gorgeous, but other pieces (which Ill call "uh-ohs") were...Unpleasant, out of style. His coats were tailored into long, boxy jackets that harked back to the power-dressing era. Eveningwear was also quite questionable; a simple black chiffon halter dress with gold speckles creeping up from the hem was as pretty as could be, but a loose kimono jacket printed with a giant tiger needed to be euthanized.

I don't understand.. Why don't they use real women to show off the clothes instead of male transvestites?

That collection could've been Blass 10 or 15 years ago.

Still, he's a solid designer, who knows his market base, and has solid sales numbers to back up his street credibility.
