Lots of forfeits in this round, but great job to the winners. Also, thanks to Kai who was the only non-winner to get an entry in, it definitely made for some interesting discussions in the judging forum trying to compare the absolutely bizarre "Bazilli" to the more common "Wichof Darkness". Both were great entries though, so congrats!

Soul Train
Easily my favorite of the bunch. The custom sign blew me away. The whole cityscape blew me away. The whole thing just... (blew me away) Well done. I'm glad your on my H2H team too.
Narrow Gauge Railway
The file didn't work for me. I knew I shouldn't have voted for ST yet, but his just blew me away. Again, I'm sorry for not even giving your's a veiw before my vote.
Bazilli
Bright! Wow, I really have never seen a mine train like that. It wasn't what I was expecting, even tho I was expecting something crazy. I did like it, I just liked Steve's a bit more. I guess I'm just a guy who likes the normal stuff...
Witch of Darkness
I really would have liked to have seen more from this entry. What was there I really liked though.
Gold Rusher
Really a very good entry. I liked all of the little details like mining sites and piles of gold. A top knotch entry, I just liked ST's a bit more.
Can't wait to see what you all do in Round 2. -

The great thing about not having a lot of NE parkmakers in this competition is that some of the other guys will be able to make a name for themselves. Soul Train literally blew me away when I opened it. I knew you were good, but this was still a wonderfully pleasant surprise. Some of the best urban work I've ever seen in RCT2. Gold Rusher was very skillfully done as well, but Supertrooper gets my vote this time round. -

It's unfair how much better Gold Rusher is than the other four entries. It's unfair how good Phatage is with the invisible ride hack. I want to hack like that. It's an awesome coaster even without the edge of your seat ending but that put it over the top into the all-time best in my opinion. Terrific theming and landscaping too. Definately the best mine train I've ever sign and I'd suspect it's also the best one I'm ever going to see.
The thing with Soul Train is, the ride was lame. It was an impressive display of architecture but it had nothing to do with the ride. Still very praisworthy and that custom sign was a nice touch.
Oh yeah, and I would have voted for Bazilli. Witch of Darkness was just a mountain with some trees and a station building. Bazilli was a whole world. -

Wow supertrooper.. that was absolutely amazing. You know how much I like the urban theme and this was just awesome. This is how RCT2 should be played - actually using scenery for what it's meant to be used for. All the little details were just great.. the stop lights, the basketball court, the strip clubs, the building under construction. Great entry. -

In order of preference:
Gold Rusher- woah. I watched it the first time round, noticing the underground theming, the subtle 1/4 tile landwork, the wonderful dynamite blaster nostalgia invoked by the coaster. Then it disappeared. I'd lost the train. I'd expected it to come out of a tunnel, but it didn't. Then it appeared somewhere else, going backwards. Then it went through the station again, turned around and jumped over a lake. I got confused, so I had to watch it all again, and notice just how amazing the coaster is. Phatage, you continue to amaze me, even though I thought Epica and SFWOE and Unfriendly Invador had amazed me as much as was possible. Unbelievable.
Soul Train- incredible! Amazing buildings, fantastic atmosphere, great touring ride, kick ass logo. Seriously, this amazing. You are one of the best non-parkmakers there are, and after Scarborough Faire and this I can only hope you get the recognition you deserve. I always feel like i'm being let in on a secret whenever I view your parks - the secret to having fun and creating something completely fresh and honest for other people. Wonderful.
Witch Of Darkness- i'm inclined to discount the architecture because it's really nothing to do with the ride, but I will say that it's bloody good. But back to the coaster, which should be the focus of the entry. it's pretty good - nice pacing, good incentives to rotate and check out the hidden turns, nice theming, good landscaping, pacing's there. Nothing to complain about, really. Nice job.
Bazilli- a little disappointing, i'm afraid . Really, I liked the whole colour thing and the idea behind the buildings, but in all it seemed rushed and incomplete. Also, the way the water was just cut off smacked of a lack of anything interesting to do with it. But the funness was still there. Not that great, but a better entry than some!
Spoon, you disappoint me with your unopenable entry Maybe you can try and make it so people can see it somehow, cos i'm interested, you know. Anyway, Gold Rusher gets my 'best of round' vote, but Soul Train deserves a mention as a wonderful, wonderful entry. Great touring ride around some brilliant architecture. But the magical-disappearing-coaster wins it for me! -

That Soul Train was awesome, i have never seen that theme pulled off well before, but the 'ghetto' theme was brilliant and really went well with the coaster. I loved Phatages entry too, that was ingenious the way you made that track! Congrats to all that got through this round.

I really rushed my entry, hence all the trees and the big mountain.
But then again, I enjoyed building it, and I know the coaster isn't the best.
But wow, I really didn't expect me winning over Kai (especially with a 7-1 count). I really did like yours Kai, and if I had been a judge, you would have got my vote.
Anyway, the other entries are all very good. I liked Phatage's lots.
I gave myself a sympathy vote, because I wanna have 'least one vote. -

Thanks Ed, it's much appreciated.Oh yeah, and I would have voted for Bazilli. Witch of Darkness was just a mountain with some trees and a station building. Bazilli was a whole world.
I'm not here to make excuses, since I full well understood that after 2 weeks of playing with ideas that didn't work, that just "winging" it on the Sunday before the deadline was a gamble, and that there would be a lot of pressure to finish off an entry in time. I did it, and it was rather stressful, but some errors and details that need to be fixed aside, I was happy enough with my effort for this round (all things considered).
Did I expect to win? Honestly, I felt it could be close. Now, I do want to congratulate Steve (and thanks for the kind words), but I wouldn't have imagined being blown out. The expectation I had would be more like a 4-3 decision either way. I guess the gamble of a non-mine themed mine train, plus pink water, was too much for some people. To that, I can't say anything but thanks for voting honestly. You build your stuff, and when it is left to random judges, anything can happen.
Thanks again for the opportunity to participate in the contest, and Steve, best of luck against Phatage. No offense, but you'll need it. We both would have, as Gold Rusher is just absurd in terms of quality/ideas/whatever. Maybe your next category will be "Non-hacked coaster".
Heh.
Congrats to all, and have fun in the next round.

Gold Rusher was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant...can't really find much else to say. The waterfalls, 1/4 tile stuff everything, perfect. My favorite RCT2 track to date. Congrats man, you are now high on my parkmaker list for inspiration.
I loved Soul Train as well, the archy was great, the actual coaster was a bit sub-par, but the Urban theming was purrrfect. Again, another amazing entry. -

Bazilli - got killed in the voting, but I think it's the last thing I ever built solo...and in 2 hrs. At that time I was a newish dad balancing married life, new kid and work, and in the process of 2 weeks for the competition couldn't think of anything until I did this on the final Sunday in 2 hrs. Point of reference - my first/oldest is now old enough to drive in USA...been a while.
I like it...weird and colorful as to be expected...attaching file. If not appearing, let me know how I can get it to you.Attached Files
