ok i am new to this site. when i tried downloading some of the maps on this site i could not play them. i tried placing them in the saved games folder and the scenario folder but the game wont reconize them

Well, what version of the game? If it's RCT-CF/LL, you will probably need the Drexler patch and the official patch.
If it's for RCT2, I don't know. If you only have RCT2 and no expansion packs, make sure your downloading RCT2 parks only, not WW parks or TT parks.

I hope I was of some help to you. :)
BTW, welcome to NE. I just hope you're not like DanTodd.

Maybe you are downloading RCTLL parks? What are some of the names you are downloading?
  • Nic%s's Photo
    Make sure you're unzipping them.

    Winzip
    WinRar

    Thanks.

If you download a pro tour park, make sure you have the objects installed because not all have them exported.

Generally, the steps (this is what i do when i download a park):
    -download the park
-unzip it somewhere (doesn't matter where, as long as you know where)
    -start rct2
    -load game
-search the .sv6 file of the park (the saved game)
-now in most cases you'll see something like: ,,installing new objects''
-after that you'll see the loading bar
-now the game is loaded and you'll see the park

Hope this brings you somewhere, good luck

    sigh...

RCT1 (that means CF/AA and LL aswell) has an .sv4 extension.
RCT2 (that means WW and TT aswell) has an .sv6 extension.

You cannot open RCT1 Parks in RCT2.
You cannot open RCT2 Parks in RCT1.

    END OF STORY.
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Actually, you CAN open up .sv4 files in RCT 2... in the scenario editor... and there are obviously no rides, plus the ghost train windows get screwed up because the land is converted to regular land. :D

Morgoth--I mean Melkor, give an example of a park you tried that didn't work and we'll be able to help you more clearly.
  • REspawn%s's Photo
Oh, so i'll just go and open DSS in the Scen ED. Yeah, no-one does that.

And obviously the scenery looks different, and there are no rides. WTF?
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Um.... DSS (if you're referring to DisneySEA Spain) is an RCT 2 park. Which means it's an .sv6. Which means you might as well open it in the game, not the scenario editor. 8@
