General Chat / $150 to Spend

    Hey.

I just recently received $150. Now, this weekend, I'll be getting an Apple iPod Digital Audio Player with 20.0GB Hard Drive. So, I narrowed it down to either a PS2 or an XBOX. Which should I get? (I already own a GameCube and Gameboy Advance SP.)

Honestly, I'm leaning towards a PS2. Though, I'm reading tons of bad reviews of the system, like it scratching disks when playing, overheating quickly, and just giving errors... Has anybody had any of these problems? The other reason I want this is for GTA:VC and GTC:SA, along with a couple of others...

So, what should I get? Playstation 2 or XBOX? Pros and cons would be very helpful.
    :)

(EDIT: I really have $200 to spend, but $50 is going towards a game for the selected console.)

PS2, the xbox is massive and I havent had any problems with my ps2. The games line up is much better apart from halo, but gran turismo, gta, pro evolution soccer and jak and daxter have always made up for that for me. But then my whole room is sony, so I guess I'm a little biased...

I've had a PS2 for 2 and a half years, and it's never given me trouble. Granted, I barely ever play it anymore. Still, I've found it to be reliable and I've had no problems with it at all. I can't speak for Xbox, but the PS2 is a good choice, if gaming is your thing.

My friends's PS2 had a problem with the eye (the thing that reads the disk). One day he was playing, and all of a sudden it stopped working. He had to get a new PS2. I don't know anyone else who has had this problem however.

Well, now, I just found out that there's a GTA Double Pack for the XBOX. So, now I have no clue what to get...

Has anyone had any problems with their XBOX?

    Get the PS2 man.

XBOX. PS2's technology is piss-poor for this generation, the game lineup is huge but bland, and it has the worst controller out of all 3.

Are you joking me? Xbox better controller?? Holy shit.

And PS2 has a much better lineup of games.

XBOX. Halo is the god of all games...it's worth getting an XBOX just for Halo IMO

PS2 controller really blows. Not enough palm room, cramped fingers, stupid shoulder buttons, unmemorable buttons, and a D-pad as the default thumb positiion. Now the X Box controller is no Gamecube controller, but it is at least comfortable.

Well, I think I have made my decision... XBOX.
Now, I won't be getting it until the weekend, so, I'll just read what everyone else has to say about it...

XBOX but really I would consider things for your iPod instead. Like In-Ear Headphone($40) are awesome, Dock($35) a must, Windows Cable($20) must have if you intend on using Windows, or a Vaja iVod case($50) dont even waste your time with others this is the best. So think about it beofre you jump into buying a system.

xbox has a miniature controller so its not so big. The regular controllers suck shit, though. So I recommend getting one of the smaller ones. :)

Also, chapel has a point. On second thought, go with the iPod stuff.
