A lot is going on right now in the NBA world. Trade rumors are flying, the Draft is Thursday and the Lakers seem to be falling apart.
-Mavs just traded Antion Jamison to the Wizards for Jerry Stackhouse, Christian Latner and the number 5 pick in the draft.
-Offers are flying around for Tracy McGrady, most probable being the Houston deal (Francis, Mobley, Cato for McGrady, Gains, J Howard.)
-Shaq wants a trade! Orlando seems interested and so does Pheonix.
Lot's of crazy stuff going on. -

I might be the only one that thinks this but it seems like the NBA is about which team has the most money, which gurantees them the best players.
Not really fair I don't think. -

I don't even think there should be needs for caps.
I see no point as to why this athletes are getting paid millions of dollars for doing something they like?
You get to live the life you want, you get to have the cars you want, it's a dream come true.
Maybe it's just some ploy to make sports all the more grand, God knows they need it. -

I think there should be a salary cap. This way you can't sign a bunch of players like the Yankees do in baseball. The only reason the Lakers did it is because they signed Gary and Karl to low contracts unlike the Yankees who give their players big contracts. -

Lakers are not falling apart, Payton is staying which is good. Why? because P. Jackson played the triangle offense, now think Payton wasn't really a triangle offense guy, Also with Phil Shaq was the first option then Kobe was the second, with both of them most likely going Payton can be the big man again.
Also if Shaq goes to Dallas, Kupchek and Buss will only trade him for Dirk, no sense trading for Nash if theirs already a star PG. Also their are 2 coaches for the Lakers who are good, The Rocket coach that lead the Rockets to 2 titles in a row and the Old Sonics coach, those 2 are the most worthy, not to forget Kurt Rambus.
Thats my stuff to say. -

I don't believe this deal is official. Most likely it will be done though. It looks like Dallas is making way for Shaq.-Mavs just traded Antion Jamison to the Wizards for Jerry Stackhouse, Christian Latner and the number 5 pick in the draft.

Great topic, Aero! Was gonna set one up myself but it's cool.
This offseason will be really fun, especially for Laker fans, as we watch the team get possibly dismantled and reassembled. It's hilarious that Dallas wants Shaq... especially since Don Nelson invented Hack-A-Shaq, and it'll be odd seeing Shaq in a Mavs uniform if he does go there, but it will be intriguing. I'd take nothing less than Dirk + someone else. Payton resigned, which is like the one thing we did NOT want, and Fish left. So we don't really need another PG, though I'd take Nash over Payton anyday (hell... Payton and Shaq for Dirk and Nash would fit me just fine, for obvious reason!).
Another rumor has Kobe going to Sacramento (Aero possibly rejoices). If that's true... he's definitely a bastard.
T-Mac is basically going to Houston, which further upsets the balance to the West... sorta. IMO, Houston has a good thing with its current team, which just needs maturation, and bringing in T-Mac might mess up team chemistry as well as team toughness.
Dallas continues to wheel and deal, getting awesome players, but they'll never get to the Finals with their style. De(troit)fence wins Championships ya know.
Anyway, it'll be an awesome summer in the NBA.. lotsa movement and stuff I expect.. so lets just sit back and enjoy the ride! -

Actually...it's looking like right now, Dirk might not be involved in the trade. Dallas pulled the trigger on the Jamison trade to get more trade bait for Shaq. Expect a deal that sends Walker, Finley, Stackhouse, and the 5th pick (or some combination of these players) to the Lakers for Shaq. Don't be surprised if you see Shaq kicking it out to Dirk for 3 next season.
Thanks Cork...we'll take good care of Shaq for ya -

I know. But we'd be fools to take someone not named Dirk. I mean... seriously... WALKER? They shoulda traded HIM to DC so that Jamison could come to us!

Well the Lakers are putting up a huge fight to get Dirk.
I've just heard that the Mavs are gonna offer a very large package instead, excluding Dirk...but basically turning the Mavs from this past year into the Lakers of next year.
So your starting line-up would look something like....
Gary Payton, Kobe Bryant, Michael Finley, Antoine Walker, and some center (maybe the 7'5 Russian center in the draft, who is rumored to be taken by the Lakers if the trade goes through)
And Cork, expect a bigger year from GP. Without the Triangle Offense, he'll be able to play his game. He was always left as the odd-man out in the Triangle, so he was never really involved in the offensive set. Trust me, you'll be happy GP resigned. -

Hopefully... hopefully.
But assuming Shaq does go to Dallas, I can imagine a whole shift in who bashes Shaq and who doesn't now. Imagine Nellie complaining about people fouling Shaq on purpose, or Shaq not getting fair calls on fouls, or whatever. It'll be hilarious using hack-a-Shaq on a Nelson-coached team!
I really despise Walker tho... Finley is awesome, but Walker??? Ugh.
Oh well, I still might enjoy the New Look Lakers, but I doubt we'll be winning another championship soon.
