I really want to go there... I've learned a lot about it and the area by just being a drummer (kind of odd really, one upped a teacher with the Mara Mara Strait (line of Istanbul cymbals)), and studying about the like 3 or 4 different cultures fused into the city just wants me to experience it even more... Maybe I could go with my uncle, he plans to return there, he spent about 2-4 years there serving in the army when he was fresh out of high school (he's old enough to be my grand-pa now, though).upreme[B]eing²ºº²,Jun 17 2004, 12:20 PM] 3)Constantinople (Istanbul) Again, huge fan of Ancient history.

Thanks for reminding me Asperix, I also like Portland, Oregon very much. It may not be the most affluent or technologically savvy city, but there is a friendliness to it, a hometown sort of feel, that I always experience when I visit. There's a resilience as well to the people there; they are not the richest or most elite, but they have a hardworking spirit that always shows, a kind of toughness that I don't think a lot of people where I live (San Francisco bay area) would be able to muster in such circumstances. I also find that Portland doesn't display, as a community, the kind of egocentricity that I find around here. They're not trying to be better with anybody as a city, they're just comfortable with what they have. It's also that everyone seems to know the city extremely well, forward and backward. My Portland friend and his family can remember the location of a place 60 blocks away, for example, while my friend's family in San Francisco acts as if most districts more than 10 blocks away are foreign, and get lost easily. On top of that there is beautiful country a short distance away from Portland, what with the Columbia River Gorge and the west coast. There is a wonderful lake called Henry Hagg Lake which is great for boating and swimming, only maybe an hour away. It is probable that I know the city of Portland better than San Francisco, and in a way I am glad for that. -

Springfield, lol. The Basketball Hall of Fame is nice, but then it's time to leave that shithole of a city. -

My top 5:
Montreal --The absolute best North American City (because it is so European)...too bad about the winters though.
Barcelona --A very unique city, with amazing architecture, friendly people, and wild nightlife.
London --A little bit of everything.
Vienna --Beautiful buildings and surrounding countryside ("The hills are alive...").
San Diego --Perfect weather and the Pacific ocean...just too expensive.
