It was a horrible match between Holland and Germany yesterday, and I think a tie is reasonable for both parties...
The worst player on the field imo was Bouma... he played all balls to the side, no depth, he seemed VERY nervous (maybe to fail-that he did), and he didn't look too good (as many others) with the Germany goal... I should've lined up Frank de Boer, cos although not as fast as Bouma maybe, he has depth, experience and a very good passing.... biggest mistake from Advocaat imo...
Same goes for Stam (no depth); he was also very insecure with some balls, and there seemed to be a lot miscommunication between him & vd Sar... he was very rough, maybe a bit awkward with some actions (Kevin Kuranyi lol!)... and the basis for a good attack is still the defense imo...
Then there's van Bronckhorst & Zenden I don't think this combination will ever be lined up again... v. Bronckhorst is a player that walks in the space before him, and if there is Zenden, yeah.. Heitinga did well, nothing extraordinary..

Then there is the midfield with vd Vaart playing on a position that he couldn't handle too well, and didn't touch many balls.. and a bunch of 3 players standing each other in the way (vd Meyde, Davids, Cocu), thus creating no room/depth...

Van Nistelrooy in the front couldn't help the bad play from Holland imo, cos he didn't got served well by his midfielders... but one chance is enough for him, which is his quality as he proved...

I'm affraid the Dutch will fail against Czech Republic when playing like this...

i somehow wonder about the german team and i think it was a very good game between germany and the netherlands. in the end the dutch didn't deserve to get a point, but as the german says "das glück ist mit den doofen" (in english: luck is with the idiots).
maybe it was a mistake of völler to get ernst in the game. frings played pretty good and made the goal aswell. ballack was good on the german site, too. it was the first game i saw him running.

and if the germans really become better when the euro goes on they might even win in the end.

only owen isn't van nistelrooy.

and maggi person, a draw was the most fair, and at the end germany should be happy with it.

The germans honestly have little chance in euro 2004, in terms of winning it. I believe the czech republic will beat them, and as everyone will most likely beat latvia in that group they're my pick to go out atm, of those 3 teams. the czechs definitely have a better team - Nedved, Baros, Paborsky, Rosicky.... only Ballack and Kahn are in that league for germany. If they do get through, they will most likely play sweden or italy or perhaps denmark. Again, my money wouldn't be on the germans for the first 2 of those match ups, and it would be evens for the third as well. If they again survive... they're looking at france, england, spain or portugal realistically. Again, they have a weaker team than any of those. I can't see it happening to be honest, even with their trademark resilience.

I'm hoping for a greece win - that would make them likely to win the group, so therefore England's opponents if we get through. Not looking likely though is it...

Holland have too many individuals, overmars was one of there best players and he is on a free transfer. Hopefully liverpool sign him, i know benitez is a fan.

I thought Greece were very dirty but did the job of defending the attacks very well. Raul's flick was very clever to set up the nice Morientes goal.

But yeah, see how Portugal do tonight. I still want to see a nice screaming goal from outside the box, many players have backed off from doing it and instead want to walk it to the goal.

It was funny when the Russian goalkeeper got a red card. Poor him though. He didn't really grab the ball, just instinctively reached for it and then stopped himself, accidentaly touching it...

If you look closely he didnt actually touch it, he was a few mm off lol, but when you only get to see it once, like the ref did you would have to show a red.

Germany vs. Netherlands, well, you can't really say either team was better than the other because both goals happened more or less accidentally.

And yeah, a draw is good because it saved the lives of several hooligans that night. But I assure you, next time it'll all just be....
