We were Sooooo lucky!
Germany had many chances to score the 2-1, but they didn't... and the czechs proved once again they're one of the best teams of the world... great goal from Heinz, and a bit of a lucky goal from Baros after a great rush...
We should beat Sweden (they lost in the qualification with 0-1 (!) from Latvia, and played 0-0 out), and we're on full strength now...

hehe.. thx Czech Republic for their little sportish duty sort of thing. I thought we were strong again (3-0, Germans tied, Czech's almost even lost) Sweden up next, should be interesting, though i'm hoping holland will prevail.

i think we're rightfully through (a bit of bad luck against Czech, we played dramatically against germany, but hey, we got the job done like no other against Latvia.

....By a shite Captain who shouldnt be taking penalties or even be allowed to play for England.

Agree or dissagree, they were the main factors of our defeat. We didn't play as good as we should but at the end and in extra time the lads played their balls off. Im high on emotion so bare with me fucking Beckham.... fucking Referee......

Beckham played well, he just had the lack of fortune to be the one to suffer from the crappy penalty spot. From then on they were all stamping it down. He had the bad luck that let the rest in on the problem. His cross in for the GOAL was brilliant.

One might want to question the following things:

Why a swiss referee was on the game a week after we'd beaten them 3-0
Why a referee who was fooled as easily as he was by Makelele was ever allowed to step on a football pitch again
How penalties were allowed to be taken in such shocking circumstances
How a crucial, game turning decision could be made without consulting linesmen, from 20 yards away
How a Portuguese player was in the half when the last penalty was taken (irrelevant, I know, but still against the rules)

I'm mildly annoyed. In the past, there's always been an English player as a scapegoat, whether it be Southgate, Batty or various managers. This time, the difference is that it's the referee... a slight improvement...

It's encouraging though, that it took such bad luck to knock us out. We didn't play well - but we didn't deserve to lose like that. Now time to regroup for what has always been the aim: WC '06. If anyone calls for Eriksson's head I will be angered, he only made one mistake, which turned out not to be that costly (bringing P. Neville on).

I personally think, by Beckham's usual standerds that he's played shite all tournement. Eriksson should be in no way held responsible. He's the best manager we've had in a long while but I doubt he'll stay. He'll leave by his own accord. He was going to if we didnt win Euro 04.

But look to 2006. Own team will kick ass by then. Rooney will be 20, Owen will hopfully be on form from the start, Vassel will be much better, Lampard, Terry, Ledly King, Cole will all be much better players, hopefully Becks will get his shit together and James will be as solid as a rock.
