Awesome game, there. Sweden's goal is my fav of the tournament so far - perfectly placed with the back of his heel while jumping away from goal. w00t. Cassano's was pretty nice as well. I just thought the Italian substitutions were a bit silly - as soon as they conceded, they had no attacking force left on the pitch to try and grab the win back.

I didnt see Italy but I watched B vs D, Very boring, I felt a bit for Gronkear (sp?) though, Im glad he scored

Yeh. Kind of expected that result (ger 0-0 latvia), without meaning to be condescending. The germans shouldn't get it too bad from the press: this is a team who knocked out Turkey and had the better of the czechs for a lot of the game. Still, some of the play from germany was incredibly boring. Schweinsteiger and Ballack are the only players prepared to get the ball and run at players, all the others just pass it around getting nowhere - the ball ended up back with Kahn for most of the plays. That would explain the 65-35 possession ratio as well. Holland and the czech rep. have to be favourites to go through now, whatever the result tonight.

BTW, since this is the NE football thread, how many people would be interested in doing a fantasy football league on yahoo or something for next season? If we can get ten people or so in it, it could be interesting.

If you show me how, i'd be pleased to do it.

That Latvian forward was amazing - he should have had at least one penalty.

If you set it all up i'd be happy to join. I joined one at my mums work, and came about 20th out of about 40? Not bad.. but its all good

Wow. What a game! Nedved showed his true class, Robben coming off lost the match for Holland imo. Silly substitution, and with v.d. meyde coming off as well - the czechs were always going to score at least once more in that game. Advocaat pissed that up the wall big time imo.

Great goal from Baros - goal of the tournament so far imo, and probably the best game I've ever seen, absolutely awesome.

btw, the fantasy football is really easy to do, I can set it all up no probs. It doesn't start until august, but it will be a good laugh if we can get a few teams in.

I was able to kill the referee before, but Advocaat totally is my new target.

and taking away Robben gives Advocaat the worst coach award, end of discussion. And then Van der Vaart and not Makaay, then Van der Meyde... (the other way around.. but ok)

I can't believe he changed Robben for Bosvelt- which is a defending midfielder.. that was the turning point in the game, and proves that Advocaat is the worst coach Holland EVER had... also, not lining up Sneijder was a big fault...
The ref. was also the worst I've ever seen...
Now let's hope Czech Republic wins over Germany... which I doubt...

^ holland are still top favs to go through imo. Look at it this way: as long as Holland beat Latvia, which to be honest they should if they deserve to go through, and Germany don't beat the czech rep., holland go through. Germany will not beat the czech rep. Their team does not compare to Nedved, Baros, Koller, Paborsky, Smicer, etc.

But all those great players most probably won't lined up... I think Bruckner wants to save them for further rounds, cos they already are #1... I just heard on the tv, Nedved will not play for sure...

Anywayz, if Germany can't win over Latvia (which is comparable to a Czech rep. B-team imo) they most probably won't win over Czech rep. neither... so I've got my hopes up, but I still feel down now..
