And all punk rock is about Depression, teen love, and being an "outcast".
PUNK ROCK IS NOT DEAD!!! Rap sucks, listen to Murderdolls. The only good rap group is Beastie Boys. All I hear in the newer rap songs is sex, money, drugs, and occassionally, violence. Who writes rap songs anyways?
 haha, good stuff
Punk rocker, lol. You are cool, sk8r boi.
Seriously, is there?Wait, there's such thing as a "good rapper?"
 Don't hurt me.
I've always disliked rap, I'm a punk rocker.
 punk rock is dead
I like all kinds of rappers but my favorties are... Busta Rhymes, Bone Thungs N Harmony, 2pac, Dr. Dre, G-Unit, Twista, Kayne West, Wu-Tang, Notorious B.I.G., etc...

I think you need to listen more closely... It's not that he raps too incredibly fast, its the way he pronounces certain words and cuts his lines apart. By having 30 lines with 4 words/syllables each said fast, it makes him seem faster than if it was 15 lines with 8 words/syllables each. Twista's flow is a gimmick. If he really had something important to say, he would make sure that everyone could understand him. Conversely, it takes skill to talk/rap that fast, but it's fairly useless if no one can understand what you're saying.

Well put Nate....twista certainly has a distinct style of rapping that may sound "cool", but if you could make out even half of what he was saying, his lyrics really arent that meaningful....I mean I really like his ability to flow to the beat, but the only parts I can understand are his rhyme word... like "sky high" -> "when I drive by" -> "screamin my, my, my," in Overnight Celebrity....I define twista as the "commercial rapper" that the genre has come to these days....Stream Of Uselessness

Get Low was catchy, guess that's why I liked it. You also have to keep in mind that I'm a drummer and don't pay much attention to lyrics.I'm very sorry. 'Get Low' has to be one of my least liked rap songs... I think the lyrics are just repetitive and pointless.
Rap songs don't have to have synthesized "beats", but you can't say they aren't musicians for it, they just don't play instruments... And there's plenty of "pop" music that people claim is music that use synthesizers and people that can't sing. If rap isn't "music"... why is pop "music"?... half of them can't sing either.
About that musicians comment, your right, you've shed some light on that for me. The Roots is a hip-hop band, and I applaud them for their efforts, and I guess I should applaud some other beatmasters (or whatever they're called) too, though I don't know enough about them to do so, yeah...
Yes, pop sucks hardcore but still is music... I guess I should call rap music, though harmony and melody aren't too involved with it. Heh, if I don't call rap music, then I can't call percussion ensemble stuff music either... hum....

True punk rock (the good stuff) covers important issues and some bands who like top take this political sing about the problems in the world today.
And all punk rock is about Depression, teen love, and being an "outcast".

I'm sure you have some specific songs in mind... which I'd like to hear. I'm not going to argue that they aren't funny, but even I could write "funny" rap songs. That doesn't necessarily make someone a "good rapper"...i agree with all of you but ems still better cos his songs are funny

I borrowed Wiley's album from a friend this weekend and I really enjoyed listening to it. He was in the same group as Dizzee Rascal, and calls his genre 'eski-beat'. He holds raves. I wanna go. mantis

If you get the chance, listen to 'The Game' and 'Wot Do U Call It?'. Oh, and 'Goin Mad' cos it's hilarious.

 Talib Kweli
 Mos Def
 Pharoahe Monch
 Dizzee Rascal
 Immortal Technique
 Big L
Lord Infamous (from 3-6 mafia, when im in a "dark" mood)
 Method Man
 Royce Da 5'9"
 Xzibit (for that westcoast flavor)
 Will-I-Am (from Black eyed peas)

 Twista (listen to adrenaline rush)
kanye west (listen to what he really has to say)
 Proof
I could go on and on...And honestly, i (still) think a lot of you need to turn MTV off and listen to some "real" hip hop. you only hear about the sex, drugs, violence etc. on the radio/tv because thats what little groupie bitches want to listen to because the think it makes them basass. And thats what the TRL minions will buy...but we are forced to listen to it because what artist wont make a song or two to fit such a mold if it means more record sales!?! its a shame really...fuck mtv, bet, and all the major radio conglamorants.
