I know it's been said numerous times before, but open a paypal account and I'll be there. I can't really convert to dollars and send via air-mail.

iris, I'm just wondering, is there anything stopping you from making a Paypal account?
Not trying to soound like an asshole, but it just seems to make so much sense.
He's probably doing it now. I'm an asshole. -

i hate to propose it, and im prob an idiot for doing it, but what about considering advertising? Not annoying or anything, maybe just like one of those ebay things, where you get so much money for every person that signs up. -

Greetings from rainy Joliet, IL!
(the Fairfield Inn, not the infamous prison)
I hate writing checks and putting them in the mail. I don't mind the paying, I'm just lazy so I only end up doing it every few weeks. Iris, I'm sorry if the delay has caused any problems. I'll be mailing your check this Thursday morning along with many others that are at least as overdue, but not as personal. I'm a dick, but not a big enough dick to tell you I was going to send you money and then never send money.
I look forward to catching up more on the site when I get back home Sunday morning. -

Actually, I was planning on sending money, and I'm not just saying this. I have been trying to save up a few extra bucks to send over, but then my grandma died, so we were at the hospital the whole time until she died, and shit, but you might take that as an excuse. I will send what I have, just for the site, or for you, whatever you want, so, yeah. I need stamps now. -

Iris, you did come off a bit whiney in that response post on page three, to be honest.
On the other hand, if you say you're going to send money, then do it. Don't make a promise and bail out. That's just not right. I didn't send money, but I didn't say I would. Personally, I have other things to do. Plus, I don't send cash or checks through the mail just open-handedly.
I'd suggest setting up a PayPal account (to beat the rotting horse). Ads don't bring in much money, but they can be considered. Charging to access the site, however, would alienate a lot of members. -

Hmmm, I'm kind of turned off by the Friday afternoon trip around Chicago. Make it lunch on Saturday and I'll think about it.cBass: Friday, 3:00 PM
Do it. We'll get burgers at McDonald's. -

The location would have to change, but if you're serious....

That's why everyone quit coasterbuzz when Jeff started chargingCharging to access the site, however, would alienate a lot of members.

Im putting up a Paypal thing tonight/tomorrow.
Regardless of how whiney this sounds...I'm not spending another dime on the site...until I can afford it.
Makes sense doesn't it? -

I still don't get why people say Jeff charges... posting is perfectly free on CBuzz.
Regardless, would $10/year (Think about it, that's less than 3 cents a day, or less than 21 cents a week, or even 84 cents a month) be unreasonable for posting rights? 50 people doing that would pay for the site by themselves. Accounts and all the things on the site that use them (voting in polls, keeping track of things) would be free, you could use the messanger system and such... and hell, half the people here don't post anyway, so it's not like we're forcing anything on them... -

Even though it's not a large amount I think it would still alienate a ton of members, I guess a lot of people just don't want to go through the hassle of having to pay to post at a site. Look at Coasterbuzz (games). A ton of people use to post parks and rides there...untill Jeff made members have to pay $20 a month to post any rides...or comment on them. Now only a very select few ever post anymore, Lord Gonchar, RCTandy, and that one kid (Evolution?)
Even though $10/year isn't too unreasonable, I just don't think it would really work. But then again, there's no site quite like NE. -

I would probably leave if we had to pay. Just because my parents are anal about stuff like that. I am sure other people here would have the same problem with their parents not letting them pay just to see a website. -

It's not "just to see"... it's to post. That's it. Every other ability on this site would stay in place, free of charge.
Would you rather have inline ads that people can disable breaking the layout, popup ads that most people turn off breaking your browser, or just ship us a dollar a month? Fuck, how hard is it to nab a $10 and get to the post office, worst case scenario? Just put it in your mailbox in an envelope with a stamp, and let the mail system do it's job... I'll gladly field any questions parents have if they want to know what you(they)'re paying for.
New question: how many people would DEFINITELY not pay $10/year for posting rights on this site? -

I tell you what Adix, and Iris. If you set up PayPal, I'll GLADLY pay NE what I paid at Fluxd for my "Goldshit" membership, which is $36.95 a year. Tell ya what, if you put up PayPal, lets make it an even $60.00 a year that you can count on from "Auntie Meretrix", which if I'm not mistaken, means I would contribute 5x what you are asking, per month. Hmm......guess I'll be floating four of you's......who wantsa ride on mommy's coat tails? -

1st question: Exactly, it ain't that hard. I've already sent Iris 2 bucks that I had lying around and I'm sure it got to him. It's not "just to see"... it's to post. That's it. Every other ability on this site would stay in place, free of charge.

Now for those of you in the UK, I can see why you are talking about the PayPal thing which is understandable.
New question answer: Not me but if it absoulutly came down to it, I might.
Well I just got a good paying job for this summer so I'll definetly mail ya any money I got just got lying around. -

I don't know that you want to charge for posting. I'm happy to help out beyond $10/month and Iris knows for how much...what the hell, bump that up and I'll match 'trix (and we're both retired?!?). Just waiting for the Paypal. I think if you get Paypal up and running and those who have a job and/or can afford it chip in all will be fine. I just don't like the idea of paid for posting privelages. It really would eliminate a lot of members (both good and bad). I don't mind Iris looking for help funding the site (tho I think you could have expressed your frustrations differently) and I think it's more than fair that users of the site pitch in to keep the place up and running. To everyone, watch for the paypal and send a few bone Iris' way. -

i would definitely NOT pay $10 for posting rights.
and please, save the "well you're useless anyway" comments. -

If you'll set up a paypall account, I will donate $10 a year to help you out...
But I will not mail money, because I don't feel like changing my euro's in dollars for 5 euro's to change it at the exchange office, then put it in the mailbox here in Holland (with 3 euro's on stamps) and hope and prey it gets to you in America... paypall is the sollution imo (if I know how the thing works)
