You are ALL taking this too literally. Biblical or not.STS, you cannot call the bible black and white like you did in your last post, (agree with it all the way or not at all), rather, you CAN, but you cannot expect people of a thinking nature to accept that.
Whatever, you children fight amongst yourselves. Just do me a favor. My sister just found out she has ovarian cancer (at 30). Pray for her if you're religious. Pray for her if you're not.
I'm too cried out to stay awake anymore.
God Bless you all with a million angels.
Goodnight. -

STS, you can't use the Bible to prove that the Bible is true. That's a circular argument. It benefits no one. This will (I hope) be my last post here. The Bible traces a clear lineage from Adam to Moses. But still, all you have done is say that I can't interpret the Bible literally, and that it is just a generalization. It is always easy to say things like that, but yet all people have done is tell me I am wrong, but not WHY. That is not the way to have a debate. How do you know the earth was created so long before "Adam and Eve?" The Bible is either all the way correct or all the way wrong, and every Scripture is profitable for edification and is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). Why is it impossible for Moses to have written those books? Or I suppose your question was concerning all 5 books. Why not?
Regarding to Bible passage.
1) Yes...Of course there is forgiveness, but it doesn't make it any less of a sin. If you don't get forgiveness, your in trouble. Period.
2) Time it was written...Paul wrote it, and it was sometime in the 1st Century AD.
3) Author...As I said, Paul wrote it. Paul wrote 13 New Testament epistles and had the "Pauline Revelation" which was in essence God's words in his mouth. This is testified to in 2 Tim 3:16. Paul spoke what Jesus could not because if Jesus had said "We have been crucified with him" (Galations 2:20), NO ONE would understand that. In a drawn out form, we have
a. Prophecy of Christ's coming
b. Christ comes, dies for people
c. Christ ascends, sends the Comforter (Holy Spirit) which inhabits His people (Acts 2 and 3 show this). Jesus' life led up to the crucifiction, but after His ascension there was still a large part of the message yet untold (i.e. redemption from sin, sickness, death) This is the revelation given to Paul which he gave to church in 13 epistles. (BTW, Paul murder Christians before his encounter en route to Damascus. Its an interesting example of forgiveness.)
Hebrews 13:8 says "Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever." He does not change. His judgements do not change. Your argument is in essence saying that those acts were sins then, but not now. How is that argument made? It cannot be. I do want to stress however that God's Judgement does not outweigh His mercy. Romans 10:13 says "whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Though the things listed in 1 Cor 6:9-10 are sins (and are still sins) they are not unforgivable. Peace-j
These are the FACTS I want you to consider:
1]There are many cultures on this planet which developed independently of each other.
2]Each of these cultures has a system of beliefs and social rituals which are passed down from generation to generation as truth.
3]When cultures have become sufficiently advanced to develop a written language, they write their belief system down and pass it on in written form.
4]Christianity is the belief system passed down from one culture in one place in the world.
Now these are not facts, but some important questions to consider:
1]Christians believe that only those who believe Jesus was the son of God and died on the cross for our sins ae allowed into heaven. Does this mean that every other culture on the planet is at a disadvantage?
2]Christianity is not the only holy book and any book considered to be holy is believed to be divinly inspired. The muses were Greek gods. The Greeks believed that the oral poets were in fact speaking with the aid of the muses. From our historically advantageous position, we may judge that the Greeks were mistaken in this. There are no muses and the great epic poems were written by many people over many hundreds of years. As culturally aware, historically aware people shouldn't we question whether we may be similarly mistaken?
3]Cultural beliefs are instilled in the next generation through the institutions of society - schools, famalies, churches, etc. Every culture on the planet believes that the culture that they grew up in is the right one. Christianity is one such culture. What gives us the right to say that our culture is more right than anyone else's? And if we do have that right, than why don't other cultures have the same right?
4]The Christian God loves humanity unconditionally and wants all people to go to heaven. This is why he sends his son to show people the way. If this is indeed the case, why doesn't he send him to every culture? Why would he send him to one culture and then charge them with spreading the news? Hasn't this created A LOT more pain, suffering, and misunderstanding?
5]The printing press was invented sometime around 1450 AD. Before that time all texts had to be copied by hand. How many mistakes do you make writing an essay? When Jesus came to earth and was crucified, there was no England or France or Germany. Hence none of these languages existed. If you've ever tried to translate one language into another, it is irrefutable fact that the EXACT meaning is NEVER carried over throughout a long document. The Bible we are reading today CANNOT be identical to the Bible people read a thousand years ago. The Bible may be the word of God, but it's been copied and recopied by human hands. Is it easier to believe that it has not changed it's meaning at all or that it has?
6]There are people on this planet that believe in reincarnation. They believe it with all their heart. If you do not believe in reincarnation than surely you think these people are mistaken. Can you then turn around and believe in something else with the same conviction having denounced their beliefs? Don't they have just as much right to believe as you do? And yet you cannot both be right. Have you considerd that instead of you being right and them being wrong or you being wrong and them being right that possibly you are both right to a certain extent and both wrong to a certain extent also?
Consider these questions, really open up your mind and consider them, that's all I'm asking. If you want to denounce my words as sent by the devil to tempt you, well that's your choice but don't be offended if I then call you ignorant. I'm not trying to answer them for you, I just want you to ASK the questions of yourself. -

This is indeed my last post, just because there is one undertone in the past few posts that I want to address. I won't use Scriptures, science, etc to try to prove to you anything. I will ask this one question that isn't asking for a reply, but just that you think it to your self.
The main thing I see you guys saying is that it is entirely narrow-minded and foolish to believe that Jesus is the only way, because it is limiting others, and really is demeaning, because other folks believe with the same ferver in religions about varied things. However, look through God's eyes for a second. Might He have a TRUE plan? For the sake of discussion, lets just say God does exist. Is it unreasonable for him to have a WAY to get to Him? Yes He does love everyone, but He doesn't want robots, He wants children that choose Him. So if God does exist, there might be a WAY, not a variety of ways, to get to heaven. See we might look at it and say surely there are many ways, but in God's eyes, why would Jesus come if not to make THE way? Just a thought. As always, keep thinking for yourself -

Right, God might have one plan. But out of the 1000's of different religions that all have different beleifs, it makes a ton of sense to be sure that you have the exact right one because the Bible says so. Just as a Muslim is 100% sure that he is right and you are wrong because the Koran says so.
Basically, this is what I'm faced with. I was raised not being religious. To me, just picking a religion is like spinning a wheel with a .002% chance of winning. I'd rather not play.
Face it, you are religious because your parents are. Or, maybe a friend converted you. I don't know. To an outsider looking in, it looks silly and thats why I don't just pick one, and even more, I don't want to base my country's laws and violate the constitution in the name of one of the 1000 religions.
And you're all still missing the boat... -

That's exactly what I think, too. Would you consider yourself agnostic or athiest?Basically, this is what I'm faced with. I was raised not being religious. To me, just picking a religion is like spinning a wheel with a .002% chance of winning. I'd rather not play.
