I personally think this is great. It's about time that they start recieving the same rights as all married people.
They don't deserve to be alienated from marriage. And to revoke marriage licenses already given is even more ridiculous. The Mayor of San Francisco is totally right - the separate but unequal thing doesn't work.
All I can say is good for them. They only deserve it. -

Not to mention that San Fran has has a huge amount of gays, especially in the castro. But I think it's great too. They should be allowed to marry. -

For the record, Canada allows gay marriages and has for quite a few months already. To all you anti-gay marriage people, Canada is still standing. The world will not come to an end. -

It would be nice if this was not news, but just a human right that could be taken for granted. I guess it's a step in the right direction. -

It still needs to be reported, gotta admit, this world is fucked up.

ya, go bush with his homophobic constitution ammendment proposal. Courts are ruling that it is unconstitutional to ban homosexual marriages, so instead of upholding the principals of the constitution, some people feel that it is sooo important that the principals of the constitution be thrown aside in order to prevent 2 consenting adults who love each other from receiving legal rights.
The christian right sucks ass.
I'd love to know how it is a threat to them. It's not like they are campaigning to end heterosexual marriages. Heterosexuals are treating marriage like a fucking candy bar where they don't want anyone else to have it. The one (laughable) explanation I've seen is that if homosexual marriage is outlawed, then it encourages homosexuals to enter into heterosexual marriages. Haha.
As for the "children are brought up best by a mother and a father", In that case I'm waiting for a constitutional ammendment banning divorce, since, you know, children are brought up best with a mother and a father.
fucking homophobes. Bush sucks. I hope he gets raped by gay people. -

The problem is it's illegal in California for two people of the same sex to enter into marriage. 4 years ago the people of California made a law that marriage is to be between a man and a woman only (101 of 120 couties aproved it). For the Mayor to say that he doesn't like that law, so he doesn't have to uphold it goes against everything this country was founded on. There are rules for a reason, and there are consequences for when those rules are broken. Hell, just the other day I got a ticket for speeding, I guess I don't have to pay the fine because I disagree with the law. I also really dispise that this is being made into a "evil religious" thing, when I can give you 2 good reasons why gay marrige doesn't work: 1.penis, 2.vagina. It's those two elements that have produced the human race (and even you reading this), It's not evil republicans and religious ideologs that made these biological rules (and stop bashing Bush, because this has been around longer than he has). I am married and have been so for 4 years, I have one child and one due next month. I do not feel "threatened" by gays although I disagree with their actions, besides they have just as many rights as I have (they can take part in marriage, so long as they follow the guidlines.). Being in "love" is not the only reason for marriage. I married my wife (of course I love her) because I felt she would be a great mother to my children (which she is). This alows me to take part in the building of our countries future, a feat that no gay couple can do on their own. As far as the thought that we are "discriminating" against gays is ludacris! Someone will always be discriminated against in our world because we are all different, gays are not an exception they are just the flavor of the decade. Besides, who are we then to tell a brother and sister that they cannot marry (even if they "love" each other) or pass judgement on a man or woman who choose to have more than one spouse. The hypocrisy would be unimaginable. The truth is that we, as a society, have decided we can do no wrong. Instead of following rules or guidelines we expand them to meet "our" criteria thereby makeing us unaccoutable to consequences or criticizm. Lastly, I want to say that this effects everyone, my mother in law is Gay, and she chose that lifestyle over a relationship with her own kids. My wife has tried many times to build a relationship again with her mother, but is always met with accusations of "it's because i'm gay isn't it?" when it had nothing to do with it. I don't know how this will all turn out, but it's wrong to just let it happen without following the rules set out by society and law. I say bring it up for a nation wide vote and stop bitching about it. -

That's another reason gay marrage should happen! No kids= Less population, which is what we need. We have too many people in this world. We need less. I hope a law takes place in a certain amount of kids you can have like in Japan. The problem is it's illegal in California for two people of the same sex to enter into marriage. 4 years ago the people of California made a law that marriage is to be between a man and a woman only (101 of 120 couties aproved it). So do you hold the same contempt for people who never have children because they can't, won't or never get the chance? This alows me to take part in the building of our countries future, a feat that no gay couple can do on their own.
Surely they're just as bad... -

Don't you mean China?I hope a law takes place in a certain amount of kids you can have like in Japan.

Yes China... but Japan could definitely benefit from that same idea.Don't you mean China?

It's by far not as worse as it is in China. And to have such a strict law, which in a way goes a bit against humanity, there really have to be strong reasons which aren't given for Japan.
