The storyline's from an ancient greek book

Close. The Aeneid is by Virgil so it's Roman. But the Romans basically just copied the Greeks anyway.

    ---Update No.5---

Preface: The Trojans have encountered a great storm that has ravaged their ships. Many lost their lives. Luckily Neptune came up from the depths of the sea and calmed the storm. The remaining ships struggled to a nearby coast. The torn and weary Trojans dragged themselves onto the shore. Having been devastated by such great losses, they were greatly depressed. They were tired, hungry, and lost.

In the scene: Aeneas, seeing the current state of his fellow Trojans, decides to set out in search of food and clean water. He also is searching for any sign of life in the region. After stumbling up a steep hill, Aeneas looks down the length of the beach. Along the tree line next to the sand, he notices a slight movement. Then he catches a glimpse of a small deer-like animal. Eventually an entire herd of this animal emerges from the forest. With his mouth watering, and a spear held at the ready, Aeneas orders a small band of men to follow him and help in the hunt. They sneak up on the herd and launch their instinctive attack. The herd runs. The Trojans pursue. A couple weaker deer fall behind. The Trojans hurl their spears. The hunt is over...
On their way back to the others, they happen upon a few buildings...

Aeneas sitting by a fire on the beach: I saw people and buildings over those hills. We should go and see if they will help us, if they are a peaceful people. But they may not be peaceful and might not want any visitors. We should try to be secretive as we observe the inhabitants.

Venus talking to her son, Aeneas, by the beach: Aeneas, I cannot talk long as your followers might see me. But, I will put a shroud of invisibility around you and a small group of your men so that you can investigate the city in safety.
Aeneas and his men take a shrouded city "tour"...

Aeneas after observing the city: I saw many people bustling around the city. Many new buildings are being made. It seems to be a big and friendly city. We should be fine going to them for help and hospitality. I also saw the Queen of the city, which is called Carthage. The queen's name is Dido. I saw her coming our of her palace...

It seems that the Trojans will be at Carthage for awhile...whether they want to or not....they need time and help to rebuild and resupply...more on this in the next update...

Beautiful! I like your use of colors.. and those long portcullises are really funky looking. Nice work with the medieval windows also. I don't like how the land just kind of sinks when it's under water.. I'd use the mountain tool or make the shore have more jagged parts. Also, the wooden roofs don't match that well. They never look good with anything, IMO. Overall.. good work, and this park is sure to bring your status up.. it shows a lot of improvement.

he has to have the water like that... ;) have you seen the map?

The idea behind the go karts is awsome! Pretty much like the rest of the stuff you showed me, good as usual.

I updated the map screen on the first page of this topic...

Thanks for the overwhelming number of replies....

pBOB and Jacko: thanks for replying...I am glad you like it so far...and the go-karts idea....I am going to keep the wooden roofs because I think they look good and fit well with the theme...

Nice work AP. I like all the archy. But maybe put a couple bushs or barrels on the roofs. Otherwise, I'm really liking this park!
  • jon%s's Photo
Yeah, I love it AP. The architecture is very nice and the story is allright as well. Great work.

    I really like the B&M coaster !
The colors a little strange but I know it's not easy with colors ;)
I like the schipwreck to ....only It's a little strange dat the side of the schip collapsed into the rock like somehow .
It's hard to explain it to you ....
But again I will say that I like you're work :D
  • spiderman%s's Photo
I'm liking the B&M coaster and its surroundings, they are done well. The colors could use a change, as they are somewhat boring. My main complaint is the architecture in the most recent screens is very simple and bland. The building with the dome thingy is good, but the rest just needs something to spice it up.

    ---Update No.6---

Preface: The Trojans stumbled onto the Carthaginian shores tired and distraught. They were aided by Venus, Aeneas' mother, with a cloud of invisibility so they could investigate Carthage. The Trojans found Carthage to be a hospitable city and they decided to approach the queen of Carthage, Dido, and ask her for her great city's help.

In the scene: Aeneas, feeling confident that the surrounding city offered protection, food, and a general friendliness, decided to approach Dido, the queen. She was a great ruler and a caring person. She instructed her people to do everything necessary to make the Trojans at home. At a feast later in the week, Dido insisted that Aeneas tell her the tragic story of his people. Aeneas reluctantly agreed to tell the story and spoke into the night. Dido was very moved by the story and felt a great deal of sympathy for Aeneas and the Trojans. Dido and Aeneas soon became very close. One day, while the two were hunting, a great storm quickly came upon Carthage. Unprepared for such a storm, Aeneas and Dido took refuge in a cave. While waiting for the storm to pass, Aeneas and Dido decided to get married.

Aeneas alone in a room in the palace: A god, Apollo, has just come to me. He told me to remember my fate. I am to begin a great race in Italy and I must not forget. I must continue my journey and leave Carthage as soon as possible. Dido will be very upset.
Dido upon learning of Aeneas' plan to leave: I am greatly distraught and depressed. Aeneas is leaving me! I don't know what I am going to do. I must go to him and make him stay. I must confront him.
(dueling corkscrews called: Dido and Aeneas)

The scene at the palace following Aeneas' secret departure: Dido has completely lost it. ""I die unavenged," she said, "but let me die. This way, this way, a blessed relief to go into the undergloom. Let the cold Trojan, far at sea, drink in this conflagration and take with him the omen of my death!" Amid these words her household people saw her crumpled over the steal blade, and the blade aflush with red blood, drenched her hands." (Aeneid Vergil)
(ride called: Pyre of Fire: The Curse)

Aeneas is now on his way to Italy and his destiny. However, he has brought a curse on himself by staying in Carthage too long and becoming too close to Dido. He will not pay for this curse, but eventually his descendants will.

The dueler station is spectacular, but I'm not crazy about the coaster colors. They clash with the buildings in the 2 screens.

    Great job though!
  • tyandor%s's Photo
One comment: create some less 'blocky' (I hate that word) building. I don't mind some more cubic structures as long as they are dressed up properly and not dominate the entire park.
  • JKay%s's Photo
Very impressive AP, all these screens show talent....I especially like the duelers station, its spectacular. I think the orange/gold accents work well, but I'm not too keen on the coaster colors and wish you would cover up the ride exit bldg in the last screen....otherwise amazing AP.
  • AustinPowers%s's Photo
freak: I wasn't too sure about the coaster colors myself....I did make a change and I will post that in a bit...I'm glad that you like the station though :D

tyandor: I think you are referring to the Pyre of Fire screen about the 'blockiness'...and those are really the only buildings that are like that in the whole park...I wanted them to be a bit different...darker, kinda represent the scene....I don't really think that they are 'blocky' though...

JKay: I must have just missed that exit building...thanks for pointing that out...I will fix that up in a jiff...

AP, just one picky historical note. Athens and the Parthenon didn't exist when Troy fell. It is thought that Troy was conquered in around 1000 B.C.; the Greek civilizations at that time were the Mycenaeans, the Spartans and other societies. The Parthenon was built and Athens reached its peak in the era of Pericles around 440 B.C.

But if you're going for the whole deal historically, with all the empires and civilizations transcending the centuries, then I guess it's appropriate to have both. It's just that as far as the storyline you have goes, the Greeks didn't come home from Troy to the Parthenon and the streets of Athens. ;)

Actually I am aware of those facts. I am building each area basically in its prime....transcending the centuries as you put it...I figure you can't have Troy without the horse, you can't have Greece without the Parthenon, you can't have Egypt without the Pharos Lighthouse and the pyramids, and you can't have Rome without the Colliseum...so expect all of those to be in this park....I am very happy though that you know your history...I love history and like to see others who actually know this stuff...

Nice work AP! I love the duelers station, the colors are nice, and the architecture is very nice as well. The only thing I don't like is the coaster colors, there so-so but could be better, also I would have mentioned that exit building but looks like your gonna take care of it.
