EDIT: a new pic of shire about 10 minutes. it has got more hills and hicgher meadows, but might look plainer because of the spaces between the trees. still I tried to follow your advice. grateful for more good advice. -

It looks really really nice, looks true enough to how the movie depicted it.
how did you get that sand pathway though? -
deanosrs Offline
^ It's just a custom path...
You could really use some flower beds here. And a higher frequency of "holes"... They looked more white to me in the film as well. An ok start though. -

Trees = ughhhh...
Hate em' Put in shorter trees, and flowers like deano said. Yes that is gonna be hard! -

It doesn't really look like it did in the movie. I seem to remember one large hill with several homes built into it, and then a couple smaller hills built around that. Also, weren't there fewer trees, and elaborate gardens and stuff? It looks nice, but it could be done better imo. If you do one thing, take out most of the trees. -

ok thanks to all replies, fewer and shorter trees it will be, but I want the trees look very fairy-taleish or how to put it. anyway, kinda magic i want the trees to look. the forest will be around shire mostly then. more hills comes and flowers, right, but i want them to fit well to the meadows. those paths was a surprise to me. I don't remeber i downloaded them or a park with them. but they are really good. More pics soon! -

Arggh I was going to start a LOTR park... Do you think having two will hurt?
I like how you did the Shire, minus the trees, can't wait to see Minas whatever... -

Not at all... to be honest I didn't check wether somebody else was doing the theme or not before I started, cause I gotten so much inspiration after the 3rd movie. So just go on. Minas Tirith is the next area I will work with. Many TT 1/4 blocks there... -
deanosrs Offline
I'm not sure about your TT block idea with minas tirith... there won;t be enough variation in texture... Remember: the tree, the great hall, the tower... there are loads of movies at www.lordoftherings.net they help alot -

ok thanx deano for the tip Ill look.
plus i dodn't plan to build whole minas thirit in TT blocks. we'll see. -
deanosrs Offline
Ok. Good luck with it. Remember the curves... I found them crucial in minas tirith. -

I have a question to you guys who also does a LOTR park, how much do you follow the map of middle earth? I'm not sure, the real distance is of course impossible to do even on a 256x256 map. are you placing them as "realistic" you can or just put them out in some different places with i. ex. forests between them? I'm not sure in my case. minas tirith is waay south from shire. -
deanosrs Offline
well, id do it so they are all in their right place but theres no gap between the sections like there would be in the book/film. btw, i hope you're going to do mordor... -

of course, i did forget that. But it is an area that will be in the park for sure. Ok, I didn't understand really your advice on the spaces, do you mean just placing them next to each other? You decide, cause I'm out of ideas on that part of the work.
