Yea I'm sick but I have something that I never got before. My right ear is plugged up. It's been like that for 1 day now. I was just wondering , is this normal or it's something I have to go to the Doctors/Hospital? It isn't the regular plugged up type like what happends when your on an airplane. I tried unplugging it and it still doesn't do anything. It also hurts when I try to unplug it. -

There are tubes that run from the inside of your inner ear and connect up to your sinus cavities. You more than likey have a very plugged head and that means the tubes are plugged as well. Normally it will resolve itself once the head cold clears as well. If you however have pain in that ear as well you may very well have an ear infection that needs to be tended to. The flu that has been going around is a nasty one and I had it as well and could not hear for more than a week out of both ears. Once it passed so did the problem. It is simply a side affect of having everything in your head swollen up.
The fact you have pain from trying to unplug it is because there is the increased pressure in your ears. The tube that normally equalizes it can't. Stop trying unless it is very painful otherwise. since your trying to clear it the pressure is going out against your eardrum instead of down out the tubes. I know it is very annoying and uncomfortable.
BTW a bit of FYI I was a respiratory therapist for many years. It was my job to understand these things as they are all connected. Just keep an eye on the pain. -

SoSweet summed it up well. I would like to add that if you end up seeing a doctor, you might want to think twice before taking antibiotics (assuming they were prescribed). Many doctors prescribe antibiotics for illnesses that they would be of no use in curing. Ear infections are almost always viral in nature or a secondary symptom of other viral illnesses and as such are rarely responsive to antibiotics. Just a comment from someone who doesn't want to die of some mutated bacteria because of misuse and over prescription on antibiotics
BTW, Another possible reason for your problem may be related to the emergence of your wisdom teeth. -

Earlier this year my right ear was plugged up for a few weeks and it turned out to be impacted wax. I used a kit from the drugstore with some special drops and it eventually cleared up.
But if it's causing you pain then it is more likely to be an infection of some sort, in which case a visit to the doctor would be a good idea. -

Go to the doctor. I had one during the summer. Some water from the beach got caught in my ear and cuased a pretty bad infection. Not only did my ear hurt like hell, it also made me sick. You know how your ears control your balance? Well whenever I stood up I'd get the sudden urge to throw up. It wasn't fun (Especially when flying on a plane with this infection, all the pressure built up in the ear until it very painfully popped). -

I had an ear infection, forgot how i got it. I got one like 3 to 5 years ago. I went to the doctor, forgot how he cured it. It sounds like an infection though. Good luck with getting passed it.
^Wow that would have to suck standing up then feeling like ya wanna throw up. -
