WHY THE HELL ARE YOU DOING SOMETHING SO BIG? You'll never finish it

This is the reason I refuse to do a mega-park.

I know I won't finish it and will not try, because it's now worth my time when I can release something of the same theme in a mini park and have it done that much faster.

Gah, DRR was one of the good Disney parks, you shouldn't have cancelled.

How about you stop complaining about all the other Disney parks being made, focus on your own project, actually finish it and show everyone how it's done? It's obvious that this project isn't going to be finished in even the long future (projected completion date: 2005?!) so why even bother wasting your time on it now?

If you want to prove a point, scrapping a project which you've been touting this long isn't the answer. The answer is to get your ass in gear, finish it and prove to everyone that even if many people can't do Disney, you're one of the people that can.

I don't think you quite understand. I don't even think I was doing that great of a job with Disney, so I don't see a point in continuing it when it wasn't up-to-par with what a Disney park (in my eyes) should be. Using the Disney name places unbelievably high standards upon a project and it is senseless to use the name when something just isn't as great as the name implies.

All of the newer Disney projects are just copycats of Meretrix's work, which sends the uniqueness of Disney's Tilted Acres and Phantasia down the drain, which is really sad to say when DTA is a great park and Phantasia looks to be a great park. It just isn't as "magical" with another copycat lurking around waiting to take ideas. That is depressing to me, a reason good enough not to want to finish the park. The uniqueness and individuality of the resort (Magic Kingdom, DisneySea, hotels) has been tarnished because of how many Magic Kingdom-esque parks are being produced as of now.

Who knows whether or not it will be resurrected, but as it stands, it won't because of the lack of individual ideas that would separate my park from all the other Disney parks out there. The scope of my resort was too limited.

This "Disney era" was fine at first I was actually an embracer at first, but it really does need to stop. You already have 3 parks that are looking similiar and if some diversity doesn't happen, it'll just increase.

The Disney moniker has gone past redundant. You are in denial if you think you are using it correctly. The thing is, it takes so much more detail and skill to achieve than what you are using right now. All of you are creating the exact same entrance structure, the exact same Mickey Mouse flower arrangement, etc. WHY THE HELL DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING ORIGINAL? No one wants to see 4 of the exact same park by different people. Magic Kingdom is SO overdone now it's ridiculous. It's really parks like this that make me want to cancel DRR, it makes me sick to see what parks are sharing the Disney moniker.

Furthermore, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU DOING SOMETHING SO BIG? You'll never finish it, so just don't start, it isn't worth the time. Three maps (for me) is colossal and I probably will cancel it before I finish it, so I would think the same would happen to you since you start a new Disney project every week. Or restart the one before. Either way, your park hasn't progressed anymore than it has last week, what's the point?

I'm serious when I say DRR is cancelled. It's astonishing how much you can tarnish a name. It isn't worth my time to make a park when you all are just going to copy it when it comes out, or look at screenshots and copy it from there (i.e. Meretrix's DTA, Phantasia). You've all copied over and over, taken direct influence from other parks and numerous other things that's just disgusting. If you can't add something original to it, what's the point? You're just going to have a RCT2 Disney-esque park... if you want to copy entrances, make a recreation of a real park. SOMETHING original for a change, for God's sake.

Apparently you just don't get it at all. Yes, RCT is a game. How many times does that have to be said?

I am sick of the lack of originality in the newer Disney projects and I think that now my park is starting to fit the mold of something unoriginal and common. It's been done before and I don't want to release something that isn't nice or unique. So, I have chosen to cancel DRR because it just isn't working out. How that fits the "if someone gets what i want i'm not having it" I don't understand because I just don't want to have something that isn't unique that has been done before.

The Disney name has become so common it just doesn't hold the same value it used to. Before it took alot to reach the level of a Disney park, now, it seems like everyone is doing one and they don't care whether or not it is unique or nice looking. I just don't understand what the point is in doing one if everyone is... unless it is something original (which DRR was not), I don't see why... but that's just a matter of opinion.

I thought your park was nice and fitted the disney bill, but stopping cos others are trying is a lame excuse because many people had done disney b4 u even started.

Finish your damn park John. Prove to the world (and more importantly yourself) that YOU are one of the "Disney Elite". Yes, everyone is doing Disney at the moment. But I had an epiphany about all of this last night. There are very few of us, who can actually do Disney justice. That may sound conceited and maybe it is, who cares. Releasing a good Disney park takes a lot out of you, sort of like child birth, without the stretch marks. I just thumbed through the last 15 pages of adverts in this forum, and there are no less than 10 threads from the current crop of WD wannabees, that have started and then scrapped different versions of Disney parks. You've been working on DRR for months. Keep your chin to the grind stone and make Walt proud. I now find it funny to see all of this "flattery" going on around here (read that as taking inspiration for your own parks...you all know who you are).

For the record...WDE, DRR, Utpoia, are going to kick ass. The rest...well let's just wait and see.

I've been working on Womb for 15 months, everything in it has since been done and improved on, but i'm still gonna finish it cos otherwise what's the fucking point? Seriously, if you're a slow builder and you've changed a lot over the course of a project (which is what's happened to me) it's still worth finishing it, if only to prove to yourself that you CAN finish something that's worth your while. Quite a few times i've wanted to start something new because I don't like some of the older things i've made, but if you did that all the time you'd never release anything!

You should be able to see from the responses in your thread and the responses to these other 'Disney' threads that people WANT to see DRR and they don't care if it's being imitated or whatever. From what i've seen it's quite different to what other parkmakers are doing, so it'd be a real shame to give it up.

John, the fact that you don't seem to think DRR is unique is amazing, because it started a style and was the original of it, and it hasn't been copied well yet at all, and I don't think it will be.

EDIT: I have cancelled the park because of the comments I got, this was the ONLY park I was serious about, this was the ONLY park that I was confident about getting at least Runner-Up on. The Golden Bay, meh, I know that people liked it, but I didn't know if I would complete it. The buildings were just way to impressive for me to finish up. I knew I couldn't do that much, as I realized that I promised too much on The Golden Bay, and I knew I couldn't do the hacks, theming, etc. So I knew that this "Disney" style of parkmaking was more my style. So I took a 2nd approach at Disney parks, I actully was stoked to do what I was actually going to do. The first project I was ever serious about. I post the screen, I get flamed for not doing good Disney buildings, and there are too many Disney parks. WHO CARES? Maybe I was trying to be different this time, trying a different approach at this Disney thing. Maybe a carbon-copy of TA? Now no one will know, because I have cancelled this park, and go on with The Golden Bay. I have not cancelled because I got discouraged, I am EXTREMELY confident in this park, but how would you like it if you got flamed every post you make?

My park is not even based off The Magic Kingdom or its layout. Mine is going for classical Disney archticture(i.e Disneyland) and is basicly following a disneyland blue print. BUT i am not copying it, For example, My Main Street will be colossal and have a bigger layout, and has lots of shops  , some that are common Disney shops, and new Disney shops by me. It will be very open to. My Mickey Mouse flower arrangement, is there but i went for a detailed Mickey.(was kinda hard to do).
