So yeah last night I went to see the 'All American Rejects' + Special Guests or whatever they were called
I only knew the one song (Swing?) but it was a chance to go out with friends and it was only £8 and it means none of us have to buy christmas presents for each other (Spunge and Farse make up the rest of the deal).
Well, the first band sucked - I don't even know what they were called or anything. Maybe they were called 'San Diego', or one of their songs was called that...but no-one was really interested.
The second band were called 'Motion Picture Soundtrack', and had a funky keyboard guy who looked like he was having a fit! The lead singer had cool freaky hair too. We started getting into them towards the end of their set, so we were warmed up when the AARs came on.
They were ok, but got a lot better at the end. The lights were cool, and when they played that one song at the end I finally got to say 'hey i know this one' lol. And then they did an encore which was ok. Not completely my type of music, but hey it was fun. We terrorrised the people in front of us and narrowly missed getting soaked by a flying beer glass.
Going to see Spunge next week, and again I only know one song...but they sound more lively than AARs so it'll be fun-ner. -

There were a lot of people there who seemed to think the same. I thought they were ok, but I was more interested in the cool lighting than the music.
I liked that one song, though! -

Spunge? or Sponge?
Just curious...if there is a Spunge, I've never heard of them, and now that I think of it, I'm not sure if Sponge is still together.
What is the song you know?
Kai
EDIT: I did a bit of research, and it turns out that they both exist, even the older Sponge, and they even released a new album, which is a shocker to me. As for Spunge, I'm still curious as to what they sound like, as the descriptors seemed to reference ska/punk/reggae.
Sounds like you had fun at the show though! I know its been too long since I saw a concert (gig). -

[spunge] are ska to the best of my knowledge. That one song called 'Kicking Pigeons' is skanking stuff.
I like skanking, so it should be fun. -

AAR is an amazing band. Unfortunatly, they are becoming mainstream which really pisses me off. Theres nothign worse then when 14 year spikey hair punks and a bunch of teenage girls start listening to music like AAR, really makes me angry.
Anyway, AAR's album is one that if you like Swing Swing, you'll like the whole album. Thats rare these days. Wish I could see em live
Hey Thorpedo, do you like Maroon 5? Jeremiah Freed? Stroke 9? Saves the Day? Hot Hot Heat? There all really good bands too! :-) -

Hmm, Swing Swing seemed like the only song like it...I can't actually remember any of the others except The Cigarette Song which they did for the encore.
I didn't like the lead singer either, but hey. I don't get all the 'what type of kid' are you thing, so what you're saying about punks etc is lost on me. -

Christ Mantis, you complain about not being able to afford all the CDs you want, and I know why.
You waste money to go see the ALL AMERICAN FUCKING REJECTS!!!
Radiohead should be back by there soon. You should be saving. -

AAR is ok, but I woulda gone to see Motion City Soundtrack. They're album is alright, but I've heard they go nuts live. The other band would be Limbeck, I think. They kinda have a laid back, alt-country vibe goin for them, so I can see how they wouldn't appeal to everybody's tastes, especially in concert. -

Yeah got that band's name wrong...they were a bit crazy. Limbeck sucked. Country music.
QOTSA - can't win 'em all. Radiohead are doing an Arena tour but:
1. No-one would go with me
2. The nearest one would be Manchester...4 hours away
3. Put the above two together. -

About the no one would go with you thing...
...I dragged my mother to the Radiohead show. Sometimes, friends are just unnecessary. Especially when they all would rather see Godsmack.
And the other thing, about a long drive...
...I didn't know England was that big. -

I had to bring this back.Hey Thorpedo, do you like Maroon 5? Jeremiah Freed? Stroke 9? Saves the Day? Hot Hot Heat? There all really good bands too! :-)
Maroon 5 is ok..they have a weird style, but its good still though.
Stroke 9 is awesome. I know all the words to "Little Black Backpack" and that was a song waayyyyyyy back in the day (maybe 3-4 years ago)..Hot Hot Heat is OOOOk. I spose. But yeah. -

I never really liked them, just doesn't appeal to me.
I do like Styx though. But, I do not like my computer. I hate computers.
