    Actually Rome is a pretty good analogy. Rome started out powerful and was the center of the Western world until it collapsed under it's own weight. Too many generations of misguided leadership. Too much success. They got full of themselves, they got lazy, the infrastructure started to fall apart, and then they were invaded by barbarians and were too weak to fight them off. But all of Western European civilization is the legacy of Rome. The remnants of Rome's culture spread out and planted the seeds for new civilizations in England, France, Germany, etc. Kinda like NE and D-Net huh?
