Well I can't speak for anyone else, but I only kid the Disney parkmakers for fun. I don't really mind either. I just wanted to remind people that Disney Mid-America was an awesome park. So yeah, let's not lose our sense of humor okay.

sorry about the pics going down. Homestead is doing maintiance today (monday) but everything will be back up by tomorow.

Thanks for the coments so far. This will be my official thread so try and keep it clean, alright? I'm glad everyone is likeing the screens, I can't wait to have this thing all put together. As far as Mid-America, this one has already surpased it in detail.

Can't wait to see more screen Aero. It seems the Disney Company is being more forthcoming with this park than other ventures (ie Spain, Austria, and Rome...maybe it's a European thing)

As for Brent.........did you take your blood pressure meds today? At the rate you're going, you're gonna have a stroke by the time you're 30!!! ;) (Just in case you hadn't figured it out....that was TOTALLY (best valley girl voice) sarcastic)

I can't say i am going to release a lot of pictures, sorry. But i will answer any question about the park that is within reason. The park right now is at 8 percent of completion, and i have spent countless hours just for that 8 percent. But as things progress you will get teaser shots and more info. I will use this thread to do it, so you will see it around. Most likely i will post a progress report once a week, just to keep everyone in the loop. With that said, figure next monday or Tuesday and you will get an updated screen shot.

Very cool, I especially like the last pic with the Mickey and Walt statue. You guys have a great knack for catching the Disney experience.

Well, there is good, and bad. I guess, the good first. I love the screens, looks like great areo/disney stuff. Perfect. The only thing I don't like is the name (and logo, which are related). Utopia doesn't sound too disney to me.
  • aero21%s's Photo
I understand a lot of people are hung up on the name. I like it, but i can see pairing it down a bit. The name Utopia comes from a recent article I read about how Walt was the last great Utopian thinker. I assume they came to this conclusion because of the development process for EPCOT. That whole concept (community of the future) was quite revolutionary, especially since in a way he accomplished it. It also plays int the name of the hotel planned, The Grand Utopian Hotel. As far as sounding "Disney" i would much rather have it "look" Disney, and who saw California Adventure coming anyway?

It doesnt quite get the Disney feel going if you ask me, you may need to work on your tree selection and some of your scenery choices. I see the effort you have put into it, and it looks like an Aero park, but yet, it lacks the Disney magic if you ask me, and it is folly to make a Disney park that doesn't send the message saying "Im a Disney park." Don't give up, of course, but you do need to work on getting the magic flow going on ... the vibes man, the vibes.. :SA:

As i stated earlier, the trees are being rethought. but as of now they serve a purpose. On Main Street they are there to visually seperate it from the rest of the park. At Disneyland, the trees behind the firehouse on Main Street have never been switched, mainly because you would see elements of Adventureland. This is a big Disney NO NO! Each are is meant to be visually seperated to enhance the feeling of being somewhere different. I have alsways loved the way Disney forces your perspective to what they want you to see. One of the best examples is on the storybook canal cruise, Pinoccio's villiage is perfectly set to force a perspective of the Matterhorn and the scale of the buildings. It's neat stuff.

    no, try again.

    Walt Disney's Disneyland Utopia
    (ap) 11-3-03

With construction well underway, Lands are beginning to take shape. Disney is still keeping a majority of what you will see in the park a mystery, but small things are being leaked here and there. Construction of Main Street USA has begun to wind down. Interiors of the shops are in the theme design phase. Exterior elements like lights and window coverings are being finished. Construction on the Haunted Mansion is complete and ride components are on site waiting for instalation. Also, the Disney Playhouse show is in full rehearsal stages and special effects are being installed. The castle which is the parks center is also in final construction phases, the side faceing Fantasyland is recieving it's final paint overlay. A few of the attractions in Fantasyland have also begun to take shape. A press leak that was published this week let us in on an attraction that was not released in the initial press release for the park. The Adventures of Little Nemo which combines the latest in underwater effects, and robotics is being installed at the back end of Fantasyland. A new form of Anamatronic figure is being developed by our Imagineers that will alow for free roaming anamatronic aquatic animals, makeing your adventure into the ocean as realistic as possible. During this adventure you will encounter all the characters from the Award winning picture Finding Nemo, as well as guest aperances by other familiar faces under the sea. The story for this attraction is still under gaurd, and will not be revealed until the opening of the park. We do know that the Drop Off will play a major role in the story. Frontierland has recieved some of the themeing facades as well as the delivery of the Country Queen. This steamer is currently docked in Frontierland and is being retrofitted for theme park useage. Although the park is still in the early stages of construction, we have been able to take a few more pictures of current happenings. That's all for now.

I love that boat. Altough it's quite simple it's one of the best RCT2 boats, in my opinion.

I enjoyed the 2nd screen too. It feels Disney to me.

I also like the name, and the logo is very good too.

I can't wait to see this finished, it seems to become a real 'Aero21 park' .

    Amazing work, as always aero

The Main Street screenshot looks perfect. There is nothing I would change in that one.

I know the Frontierland screenshot is nowhere near done, so these comments may be stupid:
    - Are you going to add a paddlewheel to the steamer? The boat looks incredible by itself (simple, but well designed), but it's missing a means of propulsion. Since you're going for a Liberty Belle Riverboat look (I assume), you're going to need a paddlewheel for it. If it's already being designed, then I'm going to just shut up :bandit:

    - Is there going to be more water behind the steamboat? It would be very difficult to dock the boat in that position with that little bit of water behind the boat. It's picky, I know, but I'm trying to add to the realism of the park. For a park this good, there has to be a reason for the placement of everything.

    Side notes:
    - The Nemo attraction sounds exciting. I can't wait to see how you realize it in RCT2
    - The bear statue at the bottom of the Frontierland pic (I assume that's near the hub, btw?) is nice.

This park is slowly looking very much like a real Disney park

I don't like the look at all. I guess I'm alone on this but it's too white and I just don't like it.
  • aero21%s's Photo
The paddleboat is awaiting the wheel, I will be useing the in-line twist coaster for this and that will be added when i get out of the scenario editing stage. I am baseing the design of the steamer on some early concept sketches by Imagineers pre-Disneylands final layout. There will be much more water behind the boat, i just put that much in so i could plan the boat properly. Frontierland will contain a mixture of old west and new west architecture, and will be the gateway into adventureland, where you will find the Alladin stuf as well as Pirates. There is also a chance you will get an Indy ride, but in what form is still undetermined. I am leaning twards a coaster bulit in an ancient temple, al la Paris. Please let me know if anyone has a better suggestion.Anyways thanks for the comments so far.

    11-11-2003 Update:

With another week gone by it is time for the update on Disneyland Utopia. Construction is going slow but steady, but much progress is being made. The west side of the park has been laid out and buildings are beginning to take shape. No rides have been installed, although their showbuildings are set for their arrival. Adventureland has begun to take shape near the back right portion of the park, Pirates entry facade and surrounding buildings are almost complete. The entrance is very ellaborate and is coming out the way i had envisioned it. A large skull sits at the end of a waterway spewing out the contents of the above waterway into the river below. There, behind the falls a cave of darkness awaits. The surroundings suggest that this cave has been here awhile, and the locals speak of strange things that happen there at night. Those who enter are weary, for a curse of evil sorts, lies within.

Frontierland is also takeing shape at the front right of the map. Land is being prepped for "Wagon Train adventures through Natures Wonderland" a very entertaining and infomative trip thought the southwest territories. "Woody's Round-Up" show building has also been completed. That will be a highly themed entertainment resturant with your favorite pals from the Toy Story movies. I plan on strating construction on the Arab Coast section of Adventureland in the next few days, and that's where a much rumored ride will be placed (or at least the entrance to said ride).

Anyways here are a few updated pics:

here is a shot of construction at the entrance to Pirates:

Agh!!! You used the Freaky Skull!!!!

    *runs away*

The screens are pretty incomplete, aside from the first one. The pirates theme looks nice... different from what I expected, but nevertheless prety effective. I like the rugged look of it. Now do the same for Adventureland, because right now, it looks (and is) pretty empty. ;)

Dude, is that ship out of MI? It looks like it, and that skull is cool!
