I can't put my finger on why, but this area does not feel like Tomorrowland to me. Maybe it's because I'm not used to seeing so much flora in Tomorrowland, or maybe it's the brown and grey together. Are you doing a different twist on Tomorrowland?
  • aero21%s's Photo
It's funny you say that, because zoomed in to the area it has a very comfortable feel (not what i would associate with tomorrowland) but zoomed out, it looks exactly like tomorrowland. Some of the flowers and trees will be toned down.

..photobucket never changed the size or resolution of my pics. Hmmm..

The jungle cruise is glorious. Possibly my fav. update on this thread. Well done :)

That is definately one of the best JC screens I have seen. I'm gonna have to work hard to top that. ;)

The only thing bothering me with Fire Mountain is the arabian dome and the canvas awnings. They look out of place in the Pit. Nice work, though. At least someone is doing Fire Mountain justice.

I'm loving this park Aero. I've always enjoyed your work and this looks to be possibly your best yet. I really have no complaints. The theming, architecture, everything looks great. I'm sure this park will get spotlight and I look forward to downloading it.
  • aero21%s's Photo
the "arabian" stuff is actually quite acurate. I wanted it to look almost primal in nature. As more details are added it will begin to blend in more. Those particular buildings are on the opposite side of where Fire Mountain is.
  • deanosrs%s's Photo
To be honest, I've never really known what to think of this park because I suspect the quality of the screenshots is taking a lot away from the actual park. I'll look forward to downloading it though.

Fire Mountain is looking very good and Jungle Cruise is looking fabulous!
    Nice work Aero!

I really hate those light brown (thatched?(sp?) rooves, i think they bring the screen down a lot. And i feel the same way about the image quality as deano ^^
  • JKay%s's Photo
Yeah, I was never really a fan of toon's tatched roofs either....the texture just isnt realistic enough for me.....I dont see anything special about the first 2 screens, but I love the animal scenery in the 3rd screen...adds loads of atmosphere.
  • aero21%s's Photo
again, the quality of the pictures is due to the constraints of Photobucket. I uploaded the Jungle cruise pic to homestead so it will be higher quality.

I really don't mind that they are low image quality, as it will be more surprising when the final park is released.

Great stuff Aero. The JC is the best I have seen. As for the thatched roofs, I think they have a place in the game but they really can only be used in certain situations and this is one of them. Great job

Nice to get a decent quality pic, tbh I wasn't that excited about this park before but that one looks very nice. The makonix walls are used very well, I think they're better used as you have them here than as fences along paths. The thatched roofing looks very nice as well, the only problem I have with them that I think you might have discovered, is the parts of the objects not covered by the thatch (ie, the sides) look pretty bad on most buildings. Is it just me or do you have a smaller version (in terms of height) of the dark green jungle trees?
  • Dirk Pitt%s's Photo
Wow, Looks great, But one problem with the jungle cruise, I don't really think that 6 animals would be so close to each other, Maybe spread them out a little bit and make it look more believeable.
  • Geoff%s's Photo
the best screen of the whole thread.

    Fucking brilliant!
  • Hevydevy%s's Photo
I think fire mountain needs something a little diffrent here and there. Maybe some plants or some charred land or someting like that. The buildings in the second pic look great, and the Jungle Cruise looks dare I say, perfect.

The Fire Mountain area will be gettint its vegitation last. There has to be a balance between lush and scorched. There is also a heavy "geo/science" theme in that area which has to be accented as well. thanks for the comments, really keeps me motivated to show more.

    Update 5-23-04

I decided it is time to release some of the backstory for Fire Mountain so that is what this update will contain. A new attraction has been installed next to Fire Mountain, it's story plays a large part in the theme of the area. You will see in the back story that the Fire Mountain area will be the largest "story" driven area in the whole park. Both E ticket attractions play an important part in relationship to the overall area and to each other. The new attraction has been named "The Dig" and is a property of George Lucas, but has been modified to fit into this theme and area. Here is a overview of this spectacular area:

    Basalt Gazette
    *headline*

New Dig Site Causing Thermal Abnormalities

Digging for new resources has been a staple in the small mining town of Basalt.
Recently, a new location of drilling has come under fire from locals as being too
much of a risk. Late last night at a local town hall meeting, locals expressed
concern about a new site just north of Geocentral, the monitoring station that is the
towns first line of defense against natural disasters. You see, the town of Basalt
was built in the late 60's by the late Gore Johnson who was renowned for his
ability to track and find sources of harvestable resources, he passed away in 1987.
His company, Ground Harvest, found this query and gave it it's name. Basalt
received it's name from the rock found in the nearby hills and mountains, which is
rich in valuable minerals that drive the small economy. The downside is that
this type of rock is found mainly near active faults and volcanos, one such volcano
still sits next to the town and goes by the name "Fire Mountain". The townspeople
have lived with this knowledge for the last 30 years, and built Geocentral to
monitor the local hills and Fire Mountain for any volcanic activity. "Ever since
that dig started, monitors and alarms in Geocentral have been sounding, we fear
the mountain is becoming unstable", said Ted Benson, a local miner. The locals
believe that this dig will trigger this long dormant mountain, bringing a quick
end to all they hold dear. Company president Cory Stone had this to say, "It's
absolutely silly to think that our recent dig is responsible for any of the incidents
that have taken place. We have been digging here for ages and nothing has
happened to date, and I refuse to believe that any future digs will cause reactions."
That still leaves the question of why Fire Mountain's thermal and seismic
readings are exceeding normal levels ever since the recent dig began. When
asked what the recent dig was going after, Mr Stone replied with "no comment."
Locals are suspicious mainly due to rumors that have circulated the town since it's
conception. It seems that workers close to Gore Johnson often overheard the owner
talking about a source of energy that if tapped could supply countless citys with
endless energy, with little to no investment by the finder. Mr. Johnson believed
that this resource was here in Basalt, but he didn't know exactly where. With a
little research on my part I found that the current owner of Ground Harvest, Mr
Stone, has been spending a lot of time with researchers and mining documents
filed by Mr Johnson. Could this source have been found?, and is it somehow tied
into the recent activity in nearby Fire Mountain?
