I do both and a bit of weed aswell depending on the mood i am in.
I smoke about 40 a week so i am not a heavy smoker and i am trying to quit.
I drink upto 25 pints a week aswell as spirits, alcopops (occasionally) etc....People may think that is a lot but when your in uni it is the time of your lives and believe me if you dont drink you will be bored shitless.
I couldn't care less what people think as im having a great time aswell as all my mates. -

I don't usually throw insults around like a headless chicken, but I'm going to make an exception.
Pymguy, the bull shit in every single one of your posts fucking sickens me. You have no opinions contrived from own experience and you just pick up on what the majority are saying and try and make it your own. Your a first class fucking fool my friend, fuck the hell off.
As you may have guessed, I'm not too fond of you. -

Neither.
I don't think I'll ever smoke.
And when I'm of age, I'll drink.
I'm responsible. Neener, neener, neener. -

Voodoo, I totally see your point, and just as you've respected mine, I'll respect yours. However, I personally want to keep my chances of living longer as good as possible, and doing something like smoking or drinking a lot, IMO, won't further that. Now, that's to say I'll never drink, of course.
That leads me to cBass's response. That's just one of the reasons of course. I'll never drink beer daily, etc... (my dad does; I won't, that's all I'm saying). I'll have a glass of wine every now and then (actually, that's healthy).
But I guess you know what I'm saying.
The only thing I'm really against, though, is just abusing your body. Sure, you have a hell of a time, but at what cost? For me, the costs don't outweight the rewards.
And Voodoo, if I had a week to life, I wouldn't shoot myself up full of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs. -

Okay. That's sad. You are aware no one gives a fuck if you're going to abstain from everything the Lord tells you is bad, right? Jesus. Rail against the anti-establishment, while being anti-establishment. If you're sXe or whatever you kids like to call yourselves, go do us all a favor and jump off a fucking bridge to your death.i have a dog tag around my neck that says "xxx straight edge"
I drink to that, my Pleasantly Plump Amigo.Pymguy.

Yeah its true it cuts your life shorter but I dont plan to live until im old and grey. And my philosophy on life is to do what you want when you want and live life to the max. I dont mean jumping off cliffs or sky diving etc. I mean just having as much fun as possible but to some that IS sky diving! Ill stick to my roller coasters thanksHowever, I personally want to keep my chances of living longer as good as possible

Well, i'll drink sometimes, if i'm in the mood, and with friends.
I have never tried a cigarette or weed, or any drugs for that matter, as i don't really see the point. If some people want to smoke, or have to smoke to tend to their addiction, that's fine by me, but leave me out of it. I don't see smoking as "cool", although most of my friends do. I think the main reason children start smoking at such a young age (i.e - 13-14ish mostly) is to "rebel" against their parents/the establishment/school/whatever.
Another reason i don't smoke or drink excessively is that at the moment i am ranked 6th in the world for trampolining for my age, and i have no desire to weaken my body, or fail a drugs test. I train every day, and so can not often drink a lot as i will have training the next day. Training with a hangover is no fun at all, let me tell you.
It is true that a lot of people will have a better time going out after having a drink or two, as the alcohol will relax them, and make them more extrovert. As a consequence, these people are the ones that will pull more girls, as they will have the confidence to approach them. I myself am quite a shy person, and after having a drink, it definitely helps me to socialise. However, it is hard to weigh up the pros and the cons, as everyone is different.
Make your own desicions, it's your life. But don't make silly assumptions without knowing all the facts.
