Woah there. You beat Memphis. I don't think it's time to start talking about trading the most dominant player in the league just yet.  ;)

It's cuz we played defense this time.

Our three losses have been the result of obviously poor defense, though the Detroit loss was close, but slipped away due to lack of D down the stretch in the 4th quarter.

If we play Laker Defense, no one can beat us.

Well, the East gets a serious blow qith the retirement of Alonzo Mourning. I hate to say it, but when i heard the Nets had signed him i knew this would happen. Sucks that he didn't sign with Dallas like he was going to, would have loved to see that. Oh and kudos to the Bulls for fireing Bill Cartwright, can anyone say Doc Rivers?
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
    Doc Rivers

was a great coach who's overachieved for two years and gets fired for underachieving for ten games.... and the Magic STILL haven't done shit since then.

The problem was with the team, not the coach. You think the Lakers were totally dependent on Kobe and Shaq, and that if both were gone, the Lakers would die (before this year)? Well, Orlando is like that to T-Mac.... only times one hundred.

Who beat best team in the East by 22? Lakers.

Who is basically unstoppable when they play defense? Lakers.

Who's winning a title if this keeps up? Lakers.
  • aero21%s's Photo
-Peja wins West Player of the Month
    -Slaughters the Nets and Rockets
-Webber is almost completely healthy for the first time in ages, and will be back soon.
-Miller is turning out to be the steal of the offseason.

Lakers? Hell No! It's the Sacramento Kings!!

Looks like that chance to win the title didn't pass us up after all
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
I'll see you in the Western Finals (aka NBA Finals), Aero.
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
And the fourth best team in the west is.... THE DENVER NUGGETS????

I guess Iris WAS onto something...
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Oh yeah! 3-0 vs San Antonion!

Looks like the only team with a chance of challenging the Almighty Lakers are the Sacramento Kings. We're waiting. ;)

Yeah, 8 straight wins without Webber. The Kings are ready for the Laker machine. Last year was just a sidetrack, it's time for the two Titans to continue where they left off in the 2002 Conference Finals. They've got unfinished business.

Then again, speculating at this point doesn't really show much. We'll see where everyone's at next April. I have a feeling San Antonio will be making comeback of some sort.
  • Fatha'%s's Photo
Cork, do you seriously think the Lakers can beat Sacto? Sacramento is a basketball machine, the lakers are Primadonnas.
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Too bad the machine always seems to break down around April and May.

OMG!!! THE MAGIC WON! MAGIC WON! MAGIC WON!!!!

And in a comeback too, so they really should have lost this game.

Betchu the Suns are kicking themselves. Or they're gonna call themselves humanitarians now.

Given my current situation, I always have to listen to Lakers fans talking like they've already won the championship. At work they're talking about it, or at lunch. I'm from Sacramento and a big Kings fan so I hate the Lakers, but I live in LA right now. At the beginning of the season I overheard a conversation about whether or not the Lakers could finish the season with less than 10 losses. Therefore, it's with particular pleasure that I'd like to point out that the Kings are 1 game behind the mighty Lakers right now and they've been playing the whole season thus far without their best player. The Lakers aren't invincible, they do have reason to be worried based on the current standings and I just want to make sure all those cocky fans know it. :D

On a side note, damn it I hate baseball. Well I hate MLB to be precise. The A's just lost Tejada which of course everyone knew they were going to but it's just ridiculous the amount of great players the A's have lost over the past few years. All you damn Red Sox fans, shut the hell up. Look who you've signed in the off season. Any team even considering a trade for Alex Rodriguez has no right to complain. When a franchise brings a player from nowhere to MVP they should have the ability to keep them if they choose to. This is why you get a team like the Yankees destroying everyone else's enjoyment of the game. Because realistically, half the teams in the league don't have a chance in hell and that's just sad. The NBA is so much more fun to watch in this regard. One trade and lowly Toronto is suddenly a playoff contender. The whole Midwest division is seperated by 1 1/2 games right now. That's exciting. But everytime I try to get into baseball, the A's lose everybody and start from scratch again. Yeah they've still got some great players but you can count on them leaving as soon as they can get more money too.
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Make that Kings have the same number of losses as the Lakers now. :(

But that Midwest Division is CRAZY! All of them should make the playoffs right now, but one must not. In the end, it might just be Memphis... barely...
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Yayness! Lakers won on a buzzer beater, barely edging out the Nuggets. I fear any team with Earl Boykins.

But look at the West. Three teams below .500.

Look at the East. Five teams above .500. Craziness.

And Utah is last place in the Midwest, as originally predicted... at 12-10 I think. Geez, this is ridiculous.

    HOW CAN YOU NOT???

    What a monster :8leg:
  • Panoramical%s's Photo
Exactly, I mean he is a MONSTER (as you said)

Since topping out at 18-3, the Lakers have gone 3-6, thanks in part of no defense, too many second chance opportunities allowed, and no defense.

Here's hoping we can pick it up, cuz the Kings have overtaken us.
  • aero21%s's Photo

    the Kings have overtaken us.

You sound surprised. It was only a matter of time. The Lakers are old and it is starting to show. Karl goes down and is out for a few games, Gary is trying but he was never a true leader, Shaq is still trying to get over his aches and pains, and Kobe is still a rapist. Meanwhile the Kings have Peja playing up to MVP form and Brad Miller starting to meld into the group and our style of play. Oh, and Webber is practicing and might be back by the all star break (at full strength and health) , oh it's going to get scary.
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Not surprised, just disappointed. Those damned yuppies from the North remain our only true rivals IMO. They are the LSU to our USC. :D
