UCES IS HERE! go here to download!
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
    That.

    Is.

Awesome. Thousands of RCT'ers are crying in joy right now.

    I think I'll pin this...

EDIT: On second thought, it doesn't show any new rides... so as I'm d/l'ing it... if there's nothing really new, then I don't think it's that special. Lets take a look...
  • rbarclay%s's Photo
There ARE some new rides. Bigrock Blast has one. The others? hidden.
  • Meretrix%s's Photo
well......it nearly f*cked up my files, so I uninstalled it. After unsuccessfully uninstalling it, the game refused to launch. So.......I had to go into the file folders and manually delete all files associated with it. Pain in the ass, yes. Didn't get to see any of the "new rides".
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Ah, so THAT's what the Phantasia disaster was.

Well, good thing I haven't installed it yet... I'll wait for more people to test. :D
  • rbarclay%s's Photo
Please check the public forum for those. The UCES doesn't install any new software, just adds files.
And the ERROE TRAPPER you probably get is a RCT2 bug, not ours. Just restart the scenario a second time and it's ok.
  • Rohn Starr%s's Photo
Relax guys, it doesn't create any problems with the game.
It's the same type of error trapper that I get when I first load a saved game with new scenery items that I don't already have installed. I just go back and restart the game and don't have any further problems with it.
  • Meretrix%s's Photo
Yes, I know it only adds files. My point is some of those files cause the game to NOT load at all. The load bar flickers really fast and will not load the game. This happens when I load an obj.data file that has problems. BTW, I have never received an error trapper message on RCT2 ever.

I am experiencing the endlessly flickering load bar as well. I have no idea which file may be causing the problem, but it started when I left the Bigrock Blast scenario. Now to start deleting files. You guys might want to think about making things available as individual objects as well. That way we as users will have a better chance of discovering problematic files. As it is now, I will have to uninstal and leave it that way til you figure out where the problems lie. Sorry to be a bearer of bad news. :'(

Same here its a big risk adding that much stuff at once, and if you are getting erorrs its probly coz of the file names, when you have 2 the same the game will not let you open any park with either object. I really think Dr J should have not released the editor to the public to be honest, insted just send it to guys like Toon, Buggy, Fisherman, Couger ect... and then make sure they save the objects with a code (like Toon save's his stuff TT or xx, mine is 1k, ect..) but i guess its to late to do that. But i do like the objects that come with the UCES, just be careful.

BTW i need the Flintstones stuff from the UCES, can some one please send the objects or the scenario to DRC2828@aol.com its for UC and i may add a sneek peek of the park if you can help ;)

    Hello.

I had to uninstall RCT 2 just to get it working again...

More beta testing guys, but I applaude you for all the hard work thus far. The final/fixed product should be a blast to play.

There's really nothing for them to fix. As Kumba said, the issue involves duplicate file names. I.e. one of the files in the UCES has the same name as an object file already on your system.

I've experienced the "flickering load bar" problem in the past and I found a relatively easy fix that requires no re-installation. Just move the contents of your Object Data folder to another temporary location (so it's empty) and start the game. Then exit the game, move the object files back into Object Data and start the game again. This forces the game to reindex the object files. It works for me.

I haven't had any serious problems with it, although having to open every scenario twice to get it to work is quite irritating, but I guess that isn't something you can fix.

I love that background scenery! Great idea. And about the flickering load bar, its times like these that make me glad i have more then one computer with RCT2 on it, so test on the shit computer, and if it works, on to my lap-top.

If the problem is being caused by files with the same names, the solution is easy. Provide a list of every item that's included plus their file name. The list should hopefully help those who are already experiencing problems.

Also, it'd be helpful to save a copy of your object data folder. Basically, duplicate it and put it elsewhere. If new scenery causes problems and you can't figure it out, simply delete your object data folder and replace it with your backup.

This would all be avoided if there was a standard in custom objects. Thats what I was worried about when they first came out, Luckly now we have a standard in the UCES. Excelent job Guys.

For those who experience the ERROE TRAPPER problem, the fix is easy as mentionned earlier: restart that scenario a second time.

For those with the flickering loading bar, it seems to happen almost exclusively to windows 2000 users (almost exclusively) and there IS a fix for it. Annoying I admit, but still fixes it. I know, it happenend to me on the work laptop. After you try to open a scenario and it starts flickereing, shut down RCT2 and do this:

    1. renamed the 'ObjData' folder to 'backup'
    2. started rct2
    3. killed rct2 with task manager
    4. renamed the 'backup' folder back to 'ObjData'
    5. started rct2
    6. It loads with no problems and I can now play the scenario

Again, I admit, it is a bit tedious as you have to do that to almost every scenario but after it is done, it is ok. We don`t realy know why it did that but at least you can get it to work.

I applaud your effort and I think it is a great thing for all the players of the game. When Chris Sawyer sold out, and Atari started steadily pumping out worthless bullshit, somebody needed to step up. You guys stepped up and made it happen, and produced something that is unparallelled. The game's scenarios were never really were any fun for me, but looking over some of the scenarios that you guys have, they are excellent. It's a great thing you guys did here.

    hey.

I think someone needs to make a workbench series.

Like, so you don't have to spend 2 hours selecting all the right rooves and stuff.

Like, TT, make a bench with all of your good scenery.

Then, the user can customize the size and save 2 hours making a damn bench.
