Funny how everyone stopped caring about baseball all of a sudden. Well I hope the Marlins win anyway. -

I still care...it is just that heated rivarly between the Red Sox and the Yankees that sparked everyones interest.
Yankees are down 1 game to nil, but I think we have been in this position before -

Ed, it's cuz Marlins vs Yankees is the most boring World Series possibility that could have arrived. I mean, even Twins vs Marlins would have been better!
Anyway, the Yanks won game 2.
But baseball bears me no interest now. The Bucs lost again too. Is it really that hard to win two in a row? At least the Panthers lost too. -

For me, the two worst possible WS match-ups going into the playoffs were Twins/Braves and Marlins/Yankees. Every other possible matchup held some interest for me, except these two. As Corky said, even Twins/Marlins would have held the interest of being the 'contraction' series, and Yankees/Braves would have had the two most dominant teams of the last decade (albeit my two most despised teams). Giants would have given Bonds another chance and Cubs or Red Sox are pretty self evident in the interest they would have spawned.
As it is, the world series is BOOOOORING and I'm sure the TV ratings will reflect it. -

And who wouldn't have watched a Cubs-Red Sox series? Everyone would have watched that at least to see which team screws up first (with the curses and all). That would have been great television. No drama, no ratings. -

Best series matchup would have been Yankees/Cubs. But I will admit a RedSox/Cubs would have been a matchup for the ages.

Dammit. They're keeping the o.c. off for this shit? I guess that's what happens when you buy exclusive rights to a playoffs, you get the good years (last) and the really rating hole-outs (this year) This is quite possibly the worst playoff situation for fox they could've imagined. At least the division championship games worked out well for them, and they're sure as hell lucky this didn't end up in the november sweeps, that would've been devastating. -

Good point, by that time, I will be rooting for the Cubs. And who wouldn't have watched a Cubs-Red Sox series? Everyone would have watched that at least to see which team screws up first (with the curses and all). That would have been great television. No drama, no ratings.

At least we know baseball isn't fixed then (*cough* regular rumors of the NBA wanting the Lakers to be in the Finals because LA is a large area and brings ratings *cough*).And who wouldn't have watched a Cubs-Red Sox series? Everyone would have watched that at least to see which team screws up first (with the curses and all). That would have been great television. No drama, no ratings.

I feel your pain. Baseball is dead to me until 2004, and they can crank up 24: Season 3 anytime now.Dammit. They're keeping the o.c. off for this shit? At least at this point it's only one more week away.
