My choice right now is Dick Gephart, and that's just because he said, of Bush, "This president... has been a miserable failure." Shows you how well the Democrats have been with name recognition.

The only candidate that has a chance is Howard Dean, only because he's "woo'd" all of the Bush haters. He supported tax cuts under Clinton, but hates Bush's. He voted in favor of the "Iraqi Liberation Act" of 1998 (even suggesting a pre-emptive, unilatteral attack if necissary), and then voted against a simular bill under Bush. I wish I could find the exact quote of him saying that to Congress. It was on the Drudge Report a few months ago, but I can't find it now, so no, I don't have a link.

Anyway, I would stay out of this discussion, except for that you called me by name, so I'm dropping in my 2 cents. That's all.

There are absolutely no decent democratic cantidates, and the only person with any chance of defeating Bush is Hilary. And while she isn't running, if she actually cares about her party, she will.

But, this is assuming I could actually vote, I wouldn't vote for anyone running - even if Hilary Clinton decided to run.

No matter what happens with this election, our country will just decend further into the shithole Bush placed us in.

Hmm, just found out Wesley Clark was running as a Democrat. I think he would know how to clean up the Iraq mess, if nothing else.

Most likely, Hillary will also run. Most experts have been expecting her to run ever since she released her last book. The timing of it was definitetly stategic. (The same weekend that Ann Coulter released a book bashing the Clintons... convenient).

Before, she was saying that she "had no plans to run". Now, Bill is saying it's a 50/50 "maybe". Which, basicly, just gives her time to campaign... I mean "book tour"... and keep Republicans from digging up dirt on her.

Unlike the other candidates, she can come in late, and still jump to the front-runner possition, just because of her popularity, and everybody knows where she stands. I would not be surprised, at all, if this is a "Bush-Clinton" election.

Instead of this being a Pro-Republican or Pro-Democrat election, it's probably just going to be Pro-Bush or Anti-Bush. That's why you're not going to have Leiberman or Kent running, because Democrats are going to step behind the most Anti-Bush candidate they can find. Either Dean or Clinton.

As far as an election goes, Hilary would be commiting political suicide to jump in now. Think about it, Bush gets re-elected and he doesn't follow through on what he promises. Hillary steps up in 2008 and doesn't have to worry about Bush running again, she therefore becomes the automatic Democrat favorite for pres. If she runs now we will have another Reagan/Mondail election where the Dems look like fun but no one cares. The plain truth is that Bush can't loose barring a huge colapse in support from his supporters. Every pre-election poll including Bush vs an actual democratic candidate has Bush winning by large margins.
