Wow I'm surprised how few people have said Danimation. Or maybe those people just haven't posted here. I started visiting Danimation before CF and long before the spotlight when there was a park repository where all of the parks were rated on a scale of 1-5 coaster cars. Joe's IOA was one of the first parks I downloaded because it had a rating of 5 and was one of the only ones that looked good. I was a member at Last Arch Angel's website before I registered at Danimation though because I only had a hotmail e-mail address and you couldn't register at Danimation then with a free e-mail address. This was like September 1999. Even then when I'd hardly made anything I thought 90% of the parks I found online were total shit. Huge hills covered in coaster helixs. The same tree repeated throughout the park. Grass everywhere, no sense of texture. Even though I've learned a lot and improved over the years I really do think there's a certain degree of innate talent and most of the parks I saw did not have it. I kept thinking 'I can do better than these' and then I found Greg Reese's parks and Joe Hollands and that gave me something to shoot for. As far as I'm concerned, I have yet to top either of those two and probably never will. Anyway, once I registered at Danimation I stopped looking for other RCT sites. I had heard of Cav's and Chocobo's but found nothing there I liked. There aren't too many times in life where you can look back and say you got into it on the ground floor, right at the genesis so I'm proud of my RCT origins. -

I wish I had found RCT sites on the web when I bought the game around 1999. I didn't though, and the past is in the past. I joined Tycoon Resource in Fall 2001. I actually visited D-net and the station occasionally in those days, but I never even knew Danimation had forums. I went and I saw the coaster logo and the RCT stuff on the front page, but I remember being like "what a worthless site." Heh. Too bad really. -

Actually, come to think of it, this would make a great poll........... -

Here's one nobody has mentioned. Skegs was the first site I found, actually placed in a comp once. but that was a long time ago.

Roller Coaster Pro was the very first... then I found mommadragons. then I found the old version of NE... and stuck with it till today. Obviously the best, great work staff. -

Either RCPRO or Danimation. I viewed boards for a while before I finally registered. I think I joined the community in late 2000, and viewed boards before that since earlier that year. I was quiet though, didn't really try and make a name for myself.
Now I try, and still don't -

I came on to "the scene" way to late. I started browsing here a few months ago and finally got off my ass and registered a few days ago. So this is my first site.

That was my first place too. From there, I discovered Danimation Spotlights.Cav's RCT Depot. That is where I first got involved in the RCT community as a staff member and where my early works were released (Seven Wonders of the World got 10,000 downloads in its first month!).
I remember being in awe of Seven Wonders of the World and wondering when I'd ever get as good as the great Mike Robbins.
And now I'm 100 times better.
Anyway, Mike, do you ever know what happened to "Cav" anyway? I talked to him a few times, but after the site went down, I never heard from him again. -

I actually talked to Mark (Cav) a couple of times on the phone. After the site went offline, I called him and he basically said that he just didn't have the time anymore because of his new job. I figured money was an issue too because of the huge downloads (my parks and remember the coaster 'front view' videos he had?)Anyway, Mike, do you ever know what happened to "Cav" anyway? www.thrillnetwork.com was were i first started. It wasn't a major RCT destination, but it had a little section for it (elrocko and butterfinger were from there. They still have talent there too). I met elrocko there, and he got me a 'membership' at Danimation (cause i only had my hotmail account, Danimation doesn't accept those). There I got known and then i came here. -

Yeah. I know why the site went down, but I was just wondering if you've kept in touch with Mark since then.I actually talked to Mark (Cav) a couple of times on the phone. Those vids ruled! It was actually mostly because of them that the site got REALLY popular. I remember the voting polls he'd have too for the next vid. -

Well man I go back far..
My first actual site was indeed the Official Site, back when they had the coaster contests ya know? Yea I entered in one of them and lost.
But my first real RCT parkmaking site was DNET. -
