As if there wasn't enough H2H side content already.

 

In Counter-Strike, Pick'ems are a feature of every Major tournament, where players can predict which teams win which matches to get in-game rewards. As one of like three nerds in this forum who also play CS, I thought it'd be fun to bring that minigame to H2HX! Of course, considering the differences in competition format, I'll have to make some changes to the way it works.

 

Easy Mode: Round Predictions

Pretty self-explanatory. Before each round, you can predict which 3 teams will come out victorious in their respective matchups. For each correct prediction, you'll get one silver point. Depending on the traction this gets, I'll post updates for each round at the end of the previous round. At the end of Round Robin, the person with the most silver points gets the Silver Award! (which is nothing more than bragging rights, sorry.)

 

Hard Mode (Part 1): Round Robin Predictions

This will be more similar to the actual Pick'ems in CS. For this format, you can predict the four teams that will make the Play-offs after Round Robin is concluded, in the exact ranking order. Each correctly predicted team (in no particular order) will get you one gold point, with an additional gold point awarded if you also predict its position correctly. Ideally, these predictions should be set before the Round 1 parks are released, but feel free to play along afterwards too!

 

Hard Mode (Part 2): Play-offs Predictions

The next stage of the Gold competition will begin after the teams participating in the Play-offs are set. For this stage, the difficulty is a bit higher. You have to correctly predict which two teams will win the Semi-finals (netting you one gold point for each), and predict which team will win the Grand Final (awarding you two gold points). For a final shot at getting a gold point, you can also predict which team will win the third place match (if it happens). I'll post an update for this stage when we eventually get to the Play-offs, but these predictions should be set before the Semi-finals parks are released. The Play-offs predictions must all be made at the same time, including for the Grand Final and third place decider, to count for points.

 

When the contest ends, I'll tally up everyone's gold points to determine who wins the coveted Gold Award, which is arguably more impressive than winning the contest itself.

After an exhilarating first round of H2HX, the matchup results have been decided. And, unfortunately, no one managed to get all three predictions right. In any case, here are the Pick'em Silver Competition standings, after Round 1:

Now, we move on to Round 2! As can also be seen here, you can now place your predictions for the next wave of matchups: Dambusters vs. Hurricanes, Lonely Hearts Club vs. Evergreen Gardeners, and Jazzcats vs. Soda Jerks. Same drill as before, each correct prediction will get you one point. At the risk of inflating this thread's replies, I ask that everyone place their R2 predictions on a new reply, so I can easily collate them when the time comes. Good luck!

Finally, a small update on the Gold Competition. As the competition is well and truly underway now, overall predictions for Round Robin have been closed for points. You can still play along if you'd like, but you won't win points for the Gold prize. If you haven't made predictions yet but would still like to compete for the award, you'll have to wait for the Play-offs!
