    YEAR 9

This year didn't went like we wanted to, we have some bad news to report...

First of all, the big new ride that was planned to open this year in the Mexico zone hasn't been opened. Construction even never started of it... The ride is designed and payed for with the company thad designed and produced it, but right before construction would start our contractor went bankrupt due to multiple fraud accusations.

Since it's a big and complex project we couldn't find a new contractor soon. Luckily we didn't pay the contractor that much already so we don't loose that much money on it. We also have the permits done so once we find a new contractor it can be build straight away. It won't be for next year though since we already have planned big and intense works. Our new ride will be postponed for 2 or even maybe 3 years...

A new ride not opening is bad enough, but at the end of the summer our Wild Mouse rollercoaster was removed out of the park. This has to do with our plans for next year, we will need that location to place something new on. Since it's a mobile rollercoaster we could've relocated it inside the park but we decided that a mobile version of very standard rollercoaster isn't something what fits our plans so we sold it to a fairground operator in Tajikistan. It will their first rollercoaster ever!

A disappointing year but I'm sure that we will bounce back next year, we have planned something big for our tenth birthday!

Was wondering what year this is set and whether Tajikstan had a roller coaster. Apparently their first roller coaster opened in 2010 and was a wild mouse lmao. such a realistic park https://rcdb.com/11308.htm

    YEAR 10

Last year we were quite unlucky with failing to open a planned, new big ride and the removal of the wild mouse coaster. That new ride will have to wait for a bit longer but this year we had enough reasons to be happy again! For our tenth openings year we went for a big overhaul of...

... the entrance! We were a pay-per-ride park before and that also meant free acces to the whole Blaarmeersen domain. Those days are over. The whole park is fenced off, side paths leading into the Blaarmeersen are removed. From now on, every visitor has to pay one entrance fee to visit the park and ride all rides.

We've built a quite large entrance building and ticket booths to accomodate all our future guests. This system is what we wanted from the start but couldn't do it until now. Fencing off the whole Blaarmeersen was a sensitive topic in the city because the locals felt like we were taking one of their hotspots away.

However, we kept our promise to the city to keep the beach freely available. Right to the entrance, there's a entrance to a pedestrian tunnel leading towards the beach section. That part of the beach is completely fenced off the park so everyone can go the beach without the need to enter the park and thus needing to pay for a ticket.

Not only that, we also invested in a new Beach House. The old one had to go for our new entrance zone anyway and we replaced it with a new, modern Beach House. It has a bistro, lockers, douches and changing rooms. All free to use for the beach goers. We also made a little lawn made to have a picnic. We also added 2 extra guard towers and gave the slides a new fresh layer of paint.

All these changes were recieved very positive by the locals who were relieved they still visit their beach without paying a cent and happy to see we invested in the beach and not neglecting it. It made the fact that the park is fenced off a bit less painfull. The city council was also very happy with the changes, now the beach is only accessible via the tunnel, they'll have an easier time checking who enters the beach and keep unwanted people out.

So what did we include on our new entrance zone?! Toilets of course, but also a big shop where we can sell our merchandise, a restaurant we named Pot au Feu, guest services. No new rides, Scrambler was replaced and our park train also got a new station building. We also had to replace some bit of its track as we kinda wanted to use the railway as a barrier between the beach and the park. We don't want free beach visiters trying to enter the park without paying!

A drone photo of our new entrance. You can also see we extended parking east quite a bit.

As you can imagine, everyone at the office was quite happy and proud on our new entrance. But just a new entrance won't bring more people to the park. We only have 12 rides of which only 1 is a roller coaster. That's really, really low and not enough. We really need to extend our park in the coming years and add more rides.

Lembeek has 5 roller coasters, more rides and also have a zoo to entertain their guests. We really need to catch up on them. To do that, Pier Kepierla is starting a round of collecting capital with his rich business friends. Goal is to make Ghentian businesses invest in our park. If we really can grow the park, other businesses in Gent can also take advantage. Think of people staying overnight, visiting the park on day 1 and the city on the second day.

We are far from the scenario of calling us a multi-day resort, we are not even dayfilling right now. But that's the road we want to take. When it comes to politics, we don't have any issues right now. L. Iberaal won the elections and gets a second term as mayor. The socials are also again inlcuded in the city council. That means we should enjoy a city council that's in favor of the park for the next 6 years.

That tunnel is a cool solution and a typical Belgian compromise to keep everyone happy Entrance itself is looking great too, and somehow typically FredD!

Good luck catching up, I'm still ahead! :p
