Tar Pit threw me for a loop thinking it was LL [...] and the fact that a park like this was done in RCT2 really is special.

Yeah I guess I won't edit that comment because it's funny but I really loved the park. I don't know what I was thinking when I typed that up. I think I was really tired. Good job to both teams though!

A Tar Pit LacunaVery nicely composed landscape with fun architectural choices. Negative space and verticality are used quite well here, as is the case with most cocoacentric maps, and the color scheme brings it all home--rich reds and purples complement the earth tones with the lush green keeping them all in line. Tar pits provide further contrast for the flat sandy plains. The coaster is a fun one to ride, and its sprawling, extroverted nature is well in line with the ghost of RCT past. In the case of this map, despite being a Design, the coaster isn't really the star of the show--it serves as more of a vehicle for the overall scene--but both it and the monorail play well to enhance the overall atmosphere. The long, straight, flat path bridges in the one corner could have been improved either by adding some sort of track support (either on the ends connecting to the rocks or near the middle in the sand) or by using track to create the "rickety bridge" effect, as its height in relation to the sandy ground gets a bit lost. However, this current way could be more in line with the era. It is always a pleasure to see well-composed LL parks that use hacks without relying on them entirely, and this strikes the ideal balance for its style. I've yet to successfully extract the donut from the rock, but when I do, I shall be crowned king of the tar pits!Limelight LakeIf LL Golds and Spotlights from the mid 00s had an earlier stage of life in their cycle before they grew out into full-size parks, this park would be the quintessential example of that stage. Even as a 60x60, it is a strong example of how to build golden era LL, which is a deceptively simple crafting process that shines brightest when the builders know the classic works like the back of their hands, or at least the one that uses the mouse since Shift doesn't do a whole lot in RCT1. Thematically, castles, stone ruins, and East Asia are among the most stereotypical RCT choices for multi-area parks, so this seems to be something of a play on old RCT tropes in addition to being a tribute to safe, traditional parkmaking. It could have benefited from one or two more tracked rides, but that which is there is still a masterclass in interaction; I cannot decide if I like the woodie or the diver more, as they both interact with their respective environments perfectly despite not being particularly large coasters. The SLC has some nice moments as well, particularly the cobra roll perched front and center on the rock. The path roofs and the coaster colors had a tendency to blend together almost too well, particularly around the tower, but that would be a difficult effect to circumvent without inverting the coaster and support colors. Very "safe" park for the most part, but as an exercise in retro LL, it's exactly as it should be. I would have liked to see one or two more open grass patches, but when do I not?
