I too find this a pain in the ass, what I've done is kept a copy of the original dat files that came with the game on my hard drive, then when I feel like cleaning up, I just copy that folder over the one in the game folder...voila no more custom scenery dats! It doesn't take too much space on your hard drive either. There should be an option to get flush it off your computer every once and a while, instead you have to do it manually.

RCT2 = the reason I play rct2 more than rct1 is because i came to the online forums when i was playing rct2 more, which meant i built more rct2 parks, which meant people thought i was better at rct2, which is why i left rct1 alone, since i came to NE, i noticed the large amount of rct1 parks around, in fact, nearly all the best parks on this site are rct1, but my club is mainly rct2 based, so thats another reason i play rct2 more. Plus, i feel as though rct2 is easier, because things are much more simple to do, custom supports etc, there is no need to whip out a trainer every 10 mins to hack something on rct2, and on rct2 i feel as though the coaster selection and sounds are better. The downfall is loading time and slowness, this pisses me off quite alot, cos i have to wait 3-4 mins to load, especially when it loads, loads again, then the main screen comes on, then i load something, it checks the object files, then loads again, and knowing my luck it will be 'invalid data ' or 'error trapper', blah.
RCT1: I recently started playing rct1, simply because of the popularity of it at this site, and its much different than rct2, i like the game because of the such quick loading times, and just click on a saved game and it instantly loads. Also, i dont want to be playing rct2 when nobody hardly likes it at this site.
In my opinion, i think i like both games the same amount. -

there is not much taken away in rct2 but loads added - essentially yes it is the same game. i think ppl should finish their current projects on rct1 , definitely, but try and move on to a more diverse game. -

All of you bitching about loading times, listen the fuck up...
DELETE ALL THE DAMN SCENARIOS AND ANY SAVED LANDSCAPE WORKBENCHES! Christ does that save time. All the Scenario's together total about 30mb or so, which, when deleted, make loading times 10xfaster, if not more!
DO IT! -

Well, RCT2 has loading times and errors, but the fact that you can go into about 5x as much detail with it, than I beleive that is why it has attracted so many.
I personally like both, I don't generalize.Although it may look to YOU nothing like buildings, it looks good to EVERYONE else.

Well like others have said...
RCT2 is 100% perfect for realistic parks, although I dislike RCT2, Mightmouse and I are working on a realistic park for RCT2 because its so good for realism.
RCT1 however, absolutely destroys RCT2 in the fantasy department. Just look at some spotlights, and you'll see. -

I actually think that RCT1 is better for fantasy and fantasy than RCT2.
You can do realistic parks in RCT1 but it takes alot much more effort than a fantasy park or a realistic RCT2 park.
I generally don't like the look of RCT2. Most of the new RCT2 scenery is looking horribly out of place. So does any custom scenery in my opinion. (Except some of ToonTowern's maybe but not all).
With the new way of making buildings, there's less individuality. Everything looks the same and I'm sick of the increase of flat rooves in themes where they just don't fit.
Whenever I play RCT2 I find more thinks I hate about it. I experienced the "Why doesn't it allow me to do this anymore?!" effect way too often. It'd be impossible for me to make a list of reasons for which I hate RCT2.
I think it is not what NE parkmaking should be used with. Wacky Worlds shows why and I'm glad iris noticed about that and won't accept WW parks for spotlight. -

While i agree with you on the Fantasy Parks view, i would say that when built correctly RCT2 buildings can be far, FAR more detailed then buildings in RCt1...[font="tahoma"]I actually think that RCT1 is better for fantasy and fantasy than RCT2.

And how?! By cramping them with custom scenery? Wow, that's too skillful.i would say that when built correctly RCT2 buildings can be far, FAR more detailed then buildings in RCt1...
In RCT1 you can at least cramp them with rides and if you manage to make that look good then you're skillful.
In RCT2, buildings with rides as scenery look just unnatural. Another thing I hate about the game. -

No, RCT2 archy is mainly in the walls. I think that's what ICDP meant. Since you can stack scenery, you can put in different wall textures, and add more detail to what you're building. Rather than have only one texture per tile, you can have many, which can make for much larger, more detailed buildings.
Only my view.

What the hell is the damn difference? Why argue over personal opinions. If someone wants to like RCT1, then let them. If someone likes RCT2, then so be it. -

*i have not read this topic but heres my opinion.....
Not evenone hates it, i love the game its my fav all time, RCT1 was half the game RCT2 is, anyone who cant see that is a retared. i mean RCT1 was not bad or anything just too simple you had too make buildings out of land and their were to few coaster parts. now in RCT2 you get walls, roofs, you can make your own objects better coaster parts, a scenario editor more coasters and loads of other stuff.....and other thing i think to be good at RCT2 takes more skill then RCT1 coz now you need to build with smaller stuff then befor and can add detail that could not be added in RCT1.
I think some of you guys hate it becoz you know we will all see that you suck if you try RCT2, so please stick with RCT1 and dont put your self to shame. -

^I would have to disagree. If you are in the parkmaking ring (NE, RCT2.com, etc.) then both games are equal. RCT2 has the ability to create much more creative architecture (as I pointed out), while RCT1 is much more creative in the rides (hacking). Each game is the same.
Just adding two more cents to the change jar.

Er, I just need to clear up something that most of you are saying.
It's not that RCT2 is more unhackable than RCT1, it's just that no one has made a trainer for it that is worthwhile.
However there is still that damn problem with the window mode.
Oh well. I can't answer your question about why does everyone hate it, I will just say that I like it better, because, infact, it is more flexible and that you cannot argue with. -

Opinions are like assholes.......everyone has one. (could you imagine if everyone didn't have an ass and everyone liked the same thing.....BORING.)
I like RCT2 more than RCT.......but frankly I could care less if people like RCT2 more than RCT or if people like RCT more than RCT2.
Does it really matter..... -

Kumba, just shut up. You've been sounding more and more like a little 12 year old every day. Grow up. The same comment about RCT1 players sucking at RCT2 could very well be used on you. You probably flame RCT1 cause you suck at it. Just shut up.*i have not read this topic but heres my opinion.....

if everyone had this take on life, there would be no point to forums like these. What the hell is the damn difference? Why argue over personal opinions. If someone wants to like RCT1, then let them. If someone likes RCT2, then so be it.

hell yeah i sucked at RCT1 i could probly do better now but we will never know. also that thing about being good at RCT1 one and sucking at RCT2 was not aim'ed at you btw. to be honest that was for RRP (steming from a short AIM chat)You probably flame RCT1 cause you suck at it. Just shut up.

there are a lot of things i hate about rct2 but i dont mind small parks cos they dont take too long.
1)everything is way slow
2)creativity is lost unless u wanna build everything out of a few building blocks unless or make themes from scratch
3)limited hacking is bad for you
4)rct2 has no street cred -

I love RCT2. I love the fact that its a new game and you can do things in RCT2 that would not be possible in RCT1. And I get excited when I do something in RCT2 that Iv never seen people do before, and lately thats been happening a hell of alot to me.
I think people who complain that buildings in RCT2 take to long to build seriously need a cat scan, I mean I can build a detailed and attractive building in around 5 mins. No hacking, no coaster placement ect is needed its just a simple case of holding down the shift key and dragging.
The only problem with architecture in RCT2 (pretty big problem) is that the line to hit good architecture is very thin, most peoples architecture are either too blocky and plain or too detailed and crowded. Not to blow my own whistle but I think my architecture is beautiful at the moment, it is neither overly detailed nor blocky, look out for some new screens in around 2 weeks and you'll see what I mean.
What does piss me off though is that some of the land textures from LL are gone, like the gray walls or the white 'romanesque' walls. And the coaster system is fucked up now with the different car types classing as different rides.
Loading times arnt a problem for me at all but I can completely sympathise with others with slow PC's because I used to have a shit one myself, but like someone said if you get rid of the scenario's ect loading times decrease significantly.
Hmmm I really want to invest In RCT1 again cos some parks out at the moment look amazing........
