Categories 2020

Please be invited to this year's NE Awards, celebrating the best of the best of 2020. After a year like no other, many of us have devoted time to RCT like they may not have otherwise, and we have seen plenty great parks come from it. It's now time to honour the cream of the crop, as is tradition when we start into the new year.

As you know, we review the award categories each time, since every year is different. This may mean the addition or omission of one or two categories, depending on the kind of parks that were released. In this light, thank you to all who have participated in the nominee collection topic. It's certainly been helpful.

This year Liampie and I were joined by FK+Coastermind, Jappy and ][ntamin22 in the awards preparation. Once all candidates had been collected, we had three elaborate (and as we felt quite podcast-worthy) voice chats determining which nominees would make the cut. Thank you guys so much for the lively exchanges, and the support it's meant.

May the best nominees win !

Can't believe Realms of Dragon Ball and Journey to Eos pops up in so many places! Thanks whoever nominated them. Must say I really thought one of my working cinemas would make it to best idea though - I'd personally say it's a bit cooler than the fade effect haha

Gonna be fun to go through the voting and to watch the awards ceremony!

Surprised my work got nominated in so many categories! Mad props for getting this out way sooner than past years. 

Added Australian ceremony time. If anyone shows up I shall be very impressed.

And sadly there's been a mistake in the "Best Wood Coaster" category, where Maverix'es Bigfoot from Silver Lake Amusement Park was meant to be included. It's now been added, but 17 people already voted. I'll PM all who it concerns.

Also, i'm curious if there was any discussion around which wooden coaster from AW to nominate? I'd consider the duellers to be stronger layouts than the RMC (and also more wooden)

What a great year of rct. Sad to see to not be nominated for the first time since a few years, but the competition is definitely scary. Cant wait for the ceremony!

Also apologies to everyone who feels left out in the poll or thinks we have forgotten something. For 2021, be sure to make suggestions in the (soon to be opened) 2021 community nominations topic. Everything posted in there will 100% guaranteed be considered.

Thanks for organizing this. Man, the Covid pandemic is terrible, but it was a huge impulse for quality RCT-gaming. So many amazing parks this year. Thanks for nominating KotMaS. It was really nice to see it pop up between all these incredible entries. I'm definetely going to try to join in tomorrow. 

Quite disappointed with the nominations in general this year. The same 4-5 parks nominated over and over for each category, the lack of LL in the best coaster/landscaping/architecture/etc. categories (heck, just the lack of a best LL park category. There were definitely enough LL submissions to have one), the inclusion of silly categories like best crunch (seriously? come on.) and best aesthetics (how is that any different than theming/atmosphere?). Yes, I'm biased. But overall this is disappointing.
