General Chat / It's a Pirate life for me!

I must say when i first heard of this movie i was kind of skeptical, and that carried for a while until 3 weeks ago. I saw a preview trailer and found myself curious, and soon i was on the brink...I had to see this film. I am a great fan of the Disneyland ride this film is named after and based on. I wasn't quite sure how the script would ty in with the ride, but mostyl i was wondering how they would fit the ride into a movie. I must say after seeing the film they did a wonderful job, i will never look at the ride the same way again. Throughout the movie you will find tributes to the ride as well as sceans and dialog. Some of them are hard to see, but most are obvious. I guess the part of the movie that i found to be most enlightening was the revelation of the curse and why there were so many skeletons and such at the beginning of the ride, but after the revelation of the curse it makes more sense. There may be much more but that is what i pulled from the movie. On to what i really thought of the movie it's self, i loved it! I will be purchaseing it when it's available, as i found it to be a fun and intense movie. I am not going to give away too much but i will say Johnny Depp makes a great pirate! HIs role is slightly different than what i expected, and i was better than what i had originally thought it would be. Go see it! it's worth the money.

Anywho, I saw the movie, along with two of my friends, and I rather enjoyed it, unlike them. There was lots of adventure, and an equal amount of laughter (I especially like the part when JD and the girl were on the island, and what happend with the... stuff). The way a lot of the people died too was pretty cool. No blood though, since it's Disney, lol. Sure was a long one though, at 2 hours and 24 minutes. It was also rather cool seeing the trailer for the Haunted Mansion.

Anyways, yeah, it's a cool movie, and after seeing it, I'd have paid for it, and will on Friday when I go see it with my family for my bro's b-day (SFMM Saturday!).

And in case you didn't get the opening thing in this post, we just walked in the back. Dumbasses left the door wide open.

I gotta see this movie, just like I still gotta see The Matrix Reloaded, X-Men 2, Terminator 3, etc.

This sounds like a great movie and I REALLY want to see it... It sounds great from what I hear, so alright!!!

I just saw it today. One of the best movies I've seen this year. The special effects were so much better then the Matrix. If you enjoy the ride you'll definately enjoy the movie. I give it a 10 out of 10.

Also, Disney must be getting into the undead and dead themes because they're coming out with a movie called "The Haunted Mansion" which I assume is based on the ride aswell.

This was a good movie with funny parts as well and nice special effects, especially at the end while moving in and out of the moonlight, changing to and from skeletons. I give it an 8.5.

My thoughts exactly. The last four movies he's been in have been major flops. So lets hope Disney can make a movie that even makes him look good.

Anywho...

Johnny Depp looked like a hooker, but putting that a side I though it was a pretty good movie. The skeletons where pretty realistic and the fight scenes were much better than i predicted. It had some funny moments, but some of the humor got a little too cheesy for my tastes. Overall it was a good movie, IMO.

What's wrong with Eddie Murphy? I know that his latest flicks haven't been that great, but on the whole, he's had a lot of pretty funny ones... Coming to America, Dr. Doolittle, and Showtime come to mind... to me atleast...

i just saw the movie (great) and i have a sudden craving for pirate theming. i better go satisfy it...

even though it was a great movie (I saw it twice, once with my girlfriend, and second tonight with my grandpa) Johnny Depp will never be able to beat his performance as Edward Scissorhands.

POTC was amazing to say the least.

I loved every aspect of this movie.

The story was great, the CG was great, and the actors are great.

I'm going to have to say that this is one of the best movies of the whole summmer as of now, and from what I can see there isn't really any hope for better movies this summer.

So I think this gets my 'Best Movie of the Summer' award, not that it's actually an award.

Johnny Depp was amazing as Captain Jack Sparrow(sp?). He breathed life into a very risky charecter and I don't really think there is another actor that could do better.

You're insane. The makeup was amazingly done in this movie, it really brought out his charecter and gave him life so I don't know what your talking about there. Be more tolerant.



Anywho.

Amazing.

I highly recommend that everyone go and see this movie, it was amazing.

THAT is what I call acting.

I saw the movie,I saw the dog with the keys,but I didn't see a talking skull... I waited forever for that thing to be somewhere. Noneoftheless, great film for the summer. Johny Depp is hillarious for a pirate. The audience must've laughed at least 6 times during the film. The way he sneaked up onto the ship at Port Royal and how his small ship at the begining of the movie sank while he was on the mast.
