Trees are growing their first leaves again, and the sun comes out to play with increasing frequency and intensity. While we're all locked up staring at NE, discord, or free netflix, the season of Winter has silently been concluded. Time to make up the balance and look ahead.

New Element Flash Challenge
The NEFC is a new NE contest format, with a focus on speed and simplicity. In this first edition, we pretend it's 2002, and no custom scenery or hacks/cheats are allowed. The deadline is in 8 days from no, but don't panic. The fact that we received the first entry the same day the contest was announced illustrates how it's possible to produce an entry in no time! NE Awards 2019
Last weekend the ceremony for the 2019 NE Awards was held in a live twitch stream. While most categories were dominated by a few parks like Southwinds, Ririku, B I T M A P and Fujin, the two big awards were taken by RuyataxRCT (Pacific Ocean Park) and Cocoa (MM3 champion, Land of Shadows).

NE Awards 2020
Wait, what, already? Yes. Preparing the awards is a pain in the ass every year, even though it is rewarding in the end. We're going to do it a little differently this year to make the 2020 awards quicker, more efficient, and also more fun, interactive, fair end representative! Read more here.

Recap: changes in the organisation
The past few months saw several changes in the site organisation. 2020 started with the wild announcement that G Force and ][ntamin22 were stepping down from their admin position, leaving a vacancy. After a few weeks of receiving applications and going over them, we decided to welcome CoasterCreator9 to the team (announcement). Going forward we also hope to include more community members in content creation and site management. The first 'task force' we (re-)erected is the New Element Graphics Team (NEgt). The NEgt is a group of talented graphic designers from our community who help with the site's graphic needs, has been revived. The NEgt was a team iris had set up as a hidden forum way back in 2002, and which was only maintained for 2 or 3 years. With Discord, we felt there was new potential to organise such team again, a bit like a task force if you will, and I am very glad that In:Cities, RuyataxRCT, hpg, mamarillas and ][ntamin22 have agreed to join as the 2020 roster. We aim to include more high quality logos on the site and on Discord in the future. ~posix (edited by Liam)

Ancient Worlds
We've had a great amount of great parks lately. Six Flags Worlds of Discovery, The Good Earth, Sea World Barcelona, and others as well. No reason to suddenly stop releasing great parks. With NE5, we've gained the option to give old accolades, those won before the accolade panel existed, a score. A comprehensive list of which parks have received their score can be found here, as well as a list of parks that have yet to get their score. The latter is especially relevant for panelists. Since the last update, these old accolades have received a new score:
