NE Awards 2020
_____________________________________________________________________Every year, when the time comes to gather all the nominations and prepare for the awards, we run into the problem that it's hard to remember everything that you at one point during the year considered award worthy. The 'Best Idea' category is especially troublesome in this regard. In order to do better in 2020, we're counting on you to help us keep notes on the stuff that stands out and may be up for an award next year.
In this topic, you're invited to share your thoughts on recent releases and how they may be eligibable for an award nomination next year. Since it is april already, let us begin with all releases of the past three months.
Some staple awards such as Best Park, Parkmaker of the Year or best Newcomer are easy for us and/or can't be discussed until the year is over. These are the categories that you should consider instead:
- Best Idea
- Best Steel Coaster
- Best Wooden Coaster
- Best Non-Coaster Ride
- Best Architecture
- Best Foliage & Landscaping
- Best Atmosphere
- Best Aesthetics
- Best Ride Design
Of course, you are welcome to discuss other highlights, or even discuss hypothetical new award categories that you think are fitting for 2020.

From SFWoD, Sea Serpent, Roar!, Superman and maybe even Hammerhead (GIB) are contenders for the best coaster categories. Park should be up for best archy and best ride design too.
From SWB, Anaconda is a good shout for best steel. Ifinity Falls and Journey to Atlantis for best non-coaster. Haven't dived deep into the park yet but I'm sure there are some best idea candidates in there...
For best idea, Journey to Eos is a goldmine. The supports fading into space takes the cake for me.
I think Antiquita will fall short in most of the technical categories, but the atmosphere is great

I think I'd prefer to see Mako in best steel coaster over Anaconda from SWB, especially if Sea Serpent is also nominated since they have similar layouts.
It's obviously very early but some of the tricks from Ancient Worlds such as the vertical sign as doors are perfect for best idea.
This is a great idea to keep track throughout the year by the way!

Shameless plug:
I think Smuggler's Run is probably my favorite Wooden coaster in ages. So simple but absolutely stunning. I hope it goes up for award selection next year (even if it's extremely early to say).

Between atmosphere, idea, and aesthetics this might be unnecessary, but how about best non-park? The only rides that would be allowed would be transport rides, boat rides, observation towers and rides that mimic non-rides like automobiles that drive on roads. Or if that idea doesn't satisfy people, if the majority of the map is not a park or part of its property like a hotel or parking lot then we could use that as qualification for a non-park.

San Sebastian Fiesta Village:
fountain path for Best Idea
Thanks for mentioning San Esteban, but for this I can't and don't want to take any credit. That was a copy from Geewhzz & Kong's Belmont Shores as a homage. That classic came out 11 years ago

Using a WW/TT object qualifies as "Best Idea" now? What?
The fact that nobody has done it in 17 years says something. Also, it's a nominations thread - so we don't miss things we otherwise might when it comes to looking at awards next year. Most of this stuff isn't going to make the cut.

if you wanted to nominate something from that park as best idea I think this mini golf course is a better fit.
