RCT Discussion / Custom G1.dat Loader

Hello everyone. In the past few days I have been working on a vbscript which allows you to load any custom g1.dat with a save file. Since it uses vbscript it is only compatible with Windows.
So the way it works, is that the file automatically loads up your rct2 installation directory from the registry and then creates a backup of your g1 and then copy's your custom g1 into the data directory.
Since when you open rct, it loads the g1 into memory. So the program can then move the old g1 back into the original directory once the save file has been loaded. Which means the old g1 can be quickly restored automatically without any hassle.
Before you run this program you must be able to open rct2 by double clicking on the sv6.
-If you are using openrct2, make sure that double clicking on the sv6 will open openrct2.
-If you are using vanilla, make sure you have the cd inserted before you run the program.
Currently this program does not work with the steam version or any other version that did not originally come on a cd. This is because I only know the path of the registry key for those versions which is used to find out where rct2 is installed. Although if you do know the path for those versions, I will gladly update the file.
So anyway to run the file, you must have your custom g1.dat in the same directory as the vbscript as well as the save file you want to open. Which has to be called save.sv6. After that, just run the file as normal and when you re-open rct2 it should have your old g1 back.
You can download the program here (make sure the vbscript is called game.vbs)----------> game.zip (878bytes)

I'm not sure I understand how it works. If I want to open say an RRP park that is made with RCTModified and thus a different g1.dat, how does the game know which g1.dat to load? -

You have the custom g1.dat in the same directory as the vbscript. https://cdn.discorda...199804928/g1.7z

I'm not sure how useful this script will be ... RCTModifed is the only alternate g1G1.dat I'm aware of and I didn't think it was very widely used.
Personally, I don't touch g1.dat and put all my modified sprites in g2.dat. It's still not ideal but it keeps the custom sprites seperate from the vanilla assets.

Admins/mapmakers have a g1.dat that makes the black space around the park pink instead (and I made a purple version instead)

That's what I was going to use it primarly for, when I used to make park maps.
