I think in order to fully enjoy the park, you need to first gain an appreciation for classic RCT, which includes the LL spotlights before DMM and the first 3 RCT2 spotlights.

 

Its a different style that's a bit more impressionistic and reliant on your imagination to fill in the gaps that couldn't be build in game at the time.  It just take as while for some, especially if you weren't involved with the game at the time.  Some never "get it", others prefer it.  It just might take some effort and exploration.

 

I don't know, I remember when the park came out (I actually started playing RCT when Corkscrew Follies came out so I've been following NE even though I wasn't overly active) and I never got it. I never got it then, I don't get it now. I'm glad people enjoy it as much as they do but I just don't get it and never have.
