NE Olympics '16 / NE Olympics '16 Country Breakdown

Figured I'd do a little writeup on this new contest format. I'm excited to see how it all shakes out, I think it manages to capture a feeling of the PT Prelims while feeling like a standalone contest. The team sizes and scale of the challenges all work together well and I'm excited to see what each country is able to produce.

 

 

Country Writeups

 

Aesthetica aka 'Coupon and Friends' - headed up by a newcomer, Zaiush, Aesthetica is comprised of 5 newer members along with NE veteran, Coupon. To be honest not much can be said about this country. Other than Coupon, only one member has shown screens on NE and everyone else an unknown quantity. The goal appears to be offering some new rct talent a chance to work with an experienced member and just have fun in an official contest. It's a commendable goal and Coupon is fresh off his release of Baker Lake. If he stays inspired he can hopefully pass on some rct knowledge to a new generation of members and put together a nice showing.

][topia - Long standing member ][ntamin22 has styled a country after himself, dictator style. He's a relaxed dude though and I don't see too much of a totalitarian leadership style coming from him. He's managed to put together an interesting mixed bag of a team. There is some LL talent for the Greco-Roman Parkmaking challenge in the form of ][22 himself and Poke. trav is another veteran member who usually fires up rct during a H2H season. With his contest experience I could see him having a major role in some of the challenges. The remaining members are all promising up and comers from the last couple years with some good screens and releases to their names. The only question I have is the pace at which some members can work. Hopefully the enthusiasm of the newer members can keep the older members motivated. The skill level and creativity of the team overall is at a high level I can see this country doing well on the majority of the challenges.

I'm quite interested in what the guys of Aesthetica can come up with. I have no idea, but I hope they will surprise some people.

Yeah I was talking with Inthemanual a couple of days ago and we both agreed that it would be a good experience for coupon and the others. Everyone elsem like milo said, has a chance to work with a great parkmaker and learn some ins and outs about building with the NE style.

I'm quite interested in what the guys of Aesthetica can come up with. I have no idea, but I hope they will surprise some people.

 

Same here, from what I've seen there's some decent builders on the team (and coupon ). I feel like they'll have a pretty good chance of grabbing atleast 5-10 points. 

We intend to build cool stuff and have fun at the same time. And just looking at what we've done so far we are succeeding on both accounts.

From all the contests, I always look most forward to Milo's team analyses write-up thingy lol

Aesthetica: Great to see a team of relatively new members mixed in with a NE vet, in Coupon.  The country seems to be based around the idea of having fun and building cool and unique stuff.  Not much work has been shown by any of its members so we are really going in blind.  They could potentially pick up a few rounds and accumulate a respectable amount of points.  I feel that Coupon could really hit a home run with these guys and turn them into some talented park makers.

Parkmenistan:  Of course Liampie gave himself a stacked team to carry him to victory.  All jokes aside, this team is probably the top contender for first place IMO.  Alex has taken the LL community for his own and has been absolutely killing it in the past year.  Liam and Pizza could mesh really well together maybe on a Lijiang 2.0?!  The whole team just fits together really well and has the ability to put out some legendary work in all aspects of the contest.

The Doninican Republic:  Feels to me like the team that has flown under the radar.  Headed my the one and only Nin, the Doninican Republic has made themselves a respectable team.  Fresh blood, in Scoop adds a lot of energy and ideas to the squad.  Looking forward to what they put out there, and a Nin and Steve duo would be epic!

$wagiland:  How the hell Turtle is on a team called $wagiland is beyond me.  Shogo established a fantastic team.  The duo of Avanine and Turtle is bound to produce some great work.  Levis and Walto are also great additions and can contribute greatly with their creativity and H2H experience.  They lack a True LL talent but make that up with their unique and creative ideas.  A Shogo and Rct2day nsco duo could show some promise as well.
