Cross-Country Engineering
The Olympics are such a great event because it builds bridges, connecting different across the globe. And that is exactly what is required in this very first Olympic discipline: building bridges. And tunnels. Roads. No Olympic discipline is more fitting to kick off this global get-together!
- - - - - - - - - - - -Objective: connect the four roads in each corner of the map with each other, using bridges, tunnels, ramps, dams and other engineering feats.
Rules: no adjustments to the landscape allowed, other than what is necessary to make the aforementioned engineering feats work. Buildings and other features that are not directly related to the engineering feats are forbidden. Foliage may be removed, but not added, unless it is directly a part of the engineering feats. Other than the landscape, you can make any adjustments to the bench. You may also rebuild the existing roads, as long as their locations along the map edge remain the same.

Voting
Voting Guidelines
You are expected to view all entries and cast a fair vote. It is considered very poor comradeship to vote with bias. We also ask you not to vote unless you've viewed all entries in the game. Aside from the general quality of the entries, you're also supposed to take into account how well each entry meets this discipline's objective as described above. I
We are closing polls after ~3 days. Entries on a tie receive the same amount of points. There won't be any waiting for a decisive vote. Votes are also public this time to counter cheating.
There are two polls; one for your favourite entry, one for your second favourite. Votes in the former poll will weigh twice as much.- - - - - - - - - - - -

The landscape was generated using a modified version of the OpenRCT2 landscape generator.
In other words, Liam did it. -

I know but that's such a drag. oh well I guess.
Just go back to the scenario editor and select your bench tabs. Should not take more than 10 minutes.

Do the structures we build have to relate to the roads? Would building things like railway bridges or ship canals be prohibited?
-
Liampie Offline
Yes. Although if the bridge is shared by cars and trains, of course you can include some railway track. If something is directly, physically and integrally related to whatever means you're using to connect the roads, it's allowed. -

Okay, so are we voting for our favourite entry or the entry that showcases the best understanding of engineering?

Best entry within the boundaries of the objective. Nowhere does it state that it has to be realistic, so that's a personal preference. When in doubt just remember that this is the classic 'best bridge' pro tour prelim reimagined and expanded. -

This will take a fair bit of time to decide. Lots of interesting ways to accomplish this. Just from an overview I am a fan of x712's dam as well as the dirt road / Jeep trail on Liam's entry, but there are some sloping sections on some entries that seem a bit odd. Also noticeable on first glance are the different scales some of us seem to be working on, some similar structures repeated with different sizing. Detailed review later.
